Getting the black build up on the lower rear quarter panell and edge of the bumper,,, will a exhaust tip help this, if so what kind and how long does it need to be to clear the truck of the soot.
Thanks

My truck use to haze the corner of the rear bumper but I can't recall it ever getting on the rear quarter panel. I installed a tip (a.k.a. cut down a 5" exhaust pipe) that extends about 1" past the stock exit. That has substantially reduced the soot on corner of the rear bumper.

I ordered a a tip from Genos and moved it out far enough so the exhaust wouldn't build up on the bumper and used High temp RTV to hold it in place. I think my tip is 12" long. Haven't had a problem since. The one I have they don't carry anymore but I am sure any would work

I had a little soot on my '06 so added a MEGS 4" tip. I trimmed some of the angle point off and pushed the tip in place. No adhesive, screws, etc. It's been nearly 5 years now and no more soot on the truck (a little on the RV corner).

I cut my exhaust down about 20 inches. It now comes out just behind the axle and points towards the ground. I also have a 5x12 inch tip so it still looks finished. I used to have this tip at the end of the stock tail pipe but I had to have it stick out past the tire about 4 inches to keep the soot off the truck. I never liked the way that looked. Much better now pointed to the ground.

I installed a FloPro 5". The tail pipe ends under the fender and leaves it covered with soot. I then installed a stainless tip to extend it out beyond the fender by a few inches. This stopped the sooting of the fender, but I want a more subtle appearance, closer to stock. So, I was thinking of chopping a few inches off and having it point at the ground. But I am concerned that would lead to a black tail gate/bumper on my white truck!

I'll snap a picture and get that sent out tonight when I get home from work.
My soot issue was solved 100% by doing this, it doesnt even get on the inside of the bumper either.

Here are some photos of exhaust, the truck is dirty but as you know with white it just makes the paint look dull in photos. The exhaust is filthy but you get the idea. Works for me and I don't mind not seeing it unless you look.

The only one that worked for me was a turn down tip. It kept my truck and trailer clean. I got one from the local exhaust shop to fit the 4" pipe.
