I think someone asked about the 7-70. The 7/70 is on the boxes and maybe u-joints - not sure about them. Mine was over the 3yrs but under 36k miles. The Dodge shop covered my trans work under the 7/70 - 100 deductable. Craig

Not bad, there's 20+ responses about whether anyone's used the warranty and most of the responses are only arguing about which years had what warranty. Says something for the Cummins.

I got screwed on my warranty. From the day I got it, the truck would get an occasional vibration every now and then. Then, one day at about 55K miles, the flywheel bolts shear off in the crank, and I got stuck with a $9500 bill to install a new shortblock b/c the dealership wouldn't warranty it.

It worked well. I had a clogged fuel injector and a "bad fuel injector connector" (I don't know what that is). They fixed it right up and now my truck is running smoother and quieter than it has for some time. It was all covered under warranty. I didn't have to pay a dime.

I had trouble with my 04.5, it had a leaking rail, that in turn put diesel fuel on and all over the ECM located on the side of the block. This all happened with 7500 miles on it. The truck had to be towed to the dealer, as it wiped out the computer. I never had a problem even with the mods done to the truck, they said no problem, and did the warrantee work. I now at 13,000 miles have a valve cover that is leaking oil all over the place from the gasket, so back it goes for that work and recalibrate the ABS for larger tires.
My point is this is the third Cummins I have owned and never have they denied warranty on any of them. Even my 03 that had a transmission problem and they could never figure out the problem with it, they finally replaced the whole wiring harness after they found out that some of the wires were chafed, because the harness was too short to begin with. The dealer told me that it was a problem on some 03’s. Anyway they felt bad because it was in the dealership forever, new trans, new harness new ecm, they took the truck back and got me the 04.5.
I think a lot has to do with the dealership, and wanting to retain there consumer base, that’s my opinion.

Your right, I worked for a GM/Dodge dealer as a tech years ago, and we would warranty just about anything we could. Every truck that came in was modded some how, it's nothing to fill out the warranty claim for DC so we(dealer) get paid. Cash money always looks better for your service department, but we took what we could thru warranty work.
