It does protect it. ESPECIALLY since I do a TON of highway driving in winter months with lots of salt not only on the roads but being kicked up by other traffic. I don't have to ever worry about rust or corrosion or stone chips from my big tires, etc. I look at it as preventitive maintenance. If you are the kind of person who doesn't mind or even likes scratches then it's not for you, but on black, I cannot stand any imperfections so I am sure I would pay more in body work than the film costs. Especially over a 5-7 year period.

... which is a mere pittance if you also have a Lambo!

What I was thinking!
For $8900 you could have the truck repainted 3x.......or 30x at Earl Scheib!

TexasCTD,

How did you paint your stock wheels...they look great! Are they powdercoated, or painted, and did you remove the chome 'cover' first or just go right over the chrome?

Thanks

I traded my "polished" oem wheels for another set from a friend. His were the "satin" finish and came off of his 03 truck. I took his wheels and had them sandblasted and then powdercoated black for $45 each at a local shop. There were no tires or center caps on them at the time. Once the wheels were finished, I picked them up and took them to Discount Tire to switch out my tires to the powdercoated wheels. Then I took my original wheels to my friend to put on his 2nd gen truck.

Thanks for the compliment!

My 06 had been on the lot for about 7 months and when I had them pulled the emblems you could still see the out line of the letters from the glue, it finally faded away after months but had to reapply from the idiots scratching my paint. Tried to colour sand but they scratches were tooooooooo deep....

I was fit to be tied.
