Electrical Issues

So here's the problem, it just started occurring here recently (since it has gotten cold). If the key is turned on, and the wait to start indicator comes on, the intake heater mesh will go through it's cycle and then the wait to start light will go off. I'll start the truck, and all of the factory gauges will work correctly except for the voltage gauge. The voltage gauge will stay halfway between 8 and 14 then shoot up to 14. Then, the head lights will dim, and the heater and wipers will slow down and the voltage gauge will go down again to halfway between 8 and 14. It only lasts for a short amount of time, maybe 2 to 3 seconds and then everything will go on working correctly. This voltage draw will continue to happen off and on while the truck is sitting and idling just after start up. It still occurs when the truck is taken up to high idle (1500 rpm). After driving the truck for a mile or two and stopping the problem doesn't occur. Is anybody else having this problem or have experience with a similar issue?

Never mind. Shovelhead answered my concern in the drivetrain forum. Sorry for the redundant post.
