Electrical Hookups

Ok, so this is the first time I've tried to install anything on my 2007 and it's completely different wiring wise then any truck I've owned. There is no electrical hookups inside the cab so I'm wondering what you guys think is the best way to get wiring out to the battery. I'm hooking up a CB Radio inside, and I'd like some input before I go messing with anything. In my old truck, there were two spares inside but behind the dash on this 6.7, there is pretty much nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I brought in a fused line from the battery through the firewall.

Where did you run it through? Do you have a pic of it by chance?

When I installed my gages, I had to get through the firewall. With an automatic transmission they do not used the hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal and linkage. This is what I routed through. This is up by the steering wheel and brake pedal access hole.
I cut a small hole in the clutch grommet and placed another smaller grommet in this hole. This was sized for the gage wiring and then for the hole I made in the clutch grommet. That should work for the CB wiring to the battery. I hope this helps?

Look to the right of the trailer hookup plug (under the clutch pedal or where it would be if you have an auto), you will see a rubber plug in the firewall, the engine side of this plug will have a rubber pull rope. pull or push it out then drill what ever size of hole needed and re-install it (from the inside out). I normally install my wiring in the next size larger wire loom to leave room for new circuits..

If you want access on the passenger side under the floor might is a plastic plug that gives you access to the underside of the fender.. Can't help on the pics the digital camera is MIA..

Edit:

You could install a fuse block on the inside to allow for additional accessories down the road.. Put a circuit breaker on the feed line for protection

Sorry, been away from computer, but just like the others said, theres a rubber boot where clutch would go and you can just poke them through there. If you need a pic, let me know, I'll snap one in the am.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ran through the gromet with a large gauge wire and I'm going to go get a block today so that I can have it for future hookups. I will probably put it under the front seat and call it good. It was a lot easier then I thought to get that wire through. I just used a 12 inch long piece of hangar and taped the wire to it, then pulled it right through.

That's great....

Glad to see this post. Just got an 06 3500. Getting ready to swap my Brakesmart over to it. I hadn't even looked where to run the wires yet. Won't have to waste the time now...

If you wire it direct to the battery, make sure you put a fuse in the line, rated for your radio/cb. Also, remember that the ignition switch won't turn it off if it's wired direct! It's rather melancholy when you come out in the morning and the battery's dead, because you forgot to turn off the cb (voice of experience).
