DYI A/C blend door

Anyone replaced/repaired the a/c blend door themself?

Mine broke in August, and I need to fix it before next summer.
I'm still in warranty, but I don't know any dealers or techs around that I'd trust to do it properly without tearing up the rest of the truck. Besides, they'd probably want to keep it longer than I could afford to have it idle.

You need to pull the dash back to get to the case and the door. not really that hard to do.

Thanks - that's great info!

Taking the dash out looks like every bit of the PITA that I thought... sucks.

Wouldn't that be covered under warranty?

Of course - but I hate to take it to a dealer with techs I don't know/trust...

I NEVER let anyone touch my equipment for any reason, at any time, unless I can WATCH them and usually HELP them!

The thought of some neophyte dismembering my beautiful, expensive truck makes me apoplectic.

I know some excellent Techs, but not in my neck of the woods.

That was an excellent write up. I have a small rattle way underneath the dash. I have had it pretty much all apart except the steering column drop hence I couldn't really pull the top off completely. Never found the rattle...yet.

Just a big pain. All comes apart pretty easy but still a pain. At least I didn't end up with extra screws left over after putting it all back together.....this time...
