Dual Zone AC
Looking in the Service Manual I noticed that the difference between Dual Zone and std control is that the DZ controler is connected to just another servo motor to control fresh air instake from the passenger and drivers side for each zone.

The standard system controls only the drivers side.

I wonder if that servo motor is installed and not used or DC went through the trouble of having two seperate assemblies for the ductwork? It would be kind of handy if all you had to do was pug in the DZ control unit????

Anyone had their dash apart yet? I really wanted DZ but not the rest of the fluff in the laramie. Not enough $$

I Ask because toyota did a similar thing with their alarm system. It is installed on all tundras, but disconnected on the non-alarm purchase models. When You buy and upgrade kit they send you an LED for the dash and instructions to plug in the already installed alarm crontrol unit.

Re:Dual Zone AC
I agree on the dual temp option - I wanted it, but not all the rest of the stuff (or the cost) on the larime. That would be pretty sweet to figure out! Hope someone is in the know about it.

From the service manual it looks like that motor and a different control unit are all that is needed. IF the motor and wiring are already there its a piece of cake.

Re:Dual Zone AC
If I could have eliminated the leather I would have gone laramie as well. I really don't prefer the leather though....cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I know it is 'easy to clean up' but with no kids - that isn't a real big concern for me. My Vette has leather - but only because that is the only thing they come with . It's OK - but I would prefer cloth for comfort.

I like the leather but I could have done without a sliding back window that I will never open. The Duel heating system is great also. The laramie package is expensive but I think it is worth the money.
Jim O

I have always had problems with cloth seats and getting shocked when exiting. Man I hate that. I'll never get anything but leather or vinyl in the future. Also, the heated seats, available only with the leather, are a godsend on cold mornings before the heater starts working.
