Driver door will not unlock

Ok heres the deal. I got out of my truck last night and my door lock worked perfectly. I went to get in it this morning and now I can not unlock my door. I can't use the keyless, the key, or even pull the manual unlock up. I can open my door by using the door handle. When I do this the manual unlock goes up but then immediately goes back down when I release the inside handle. Does anybody have any ideas on this. I haven't pulled off the door panel on a dodge before so I wanted ideas before I pull it off in a couple of nights when I get back into town and have time to.

I am way out of the 3/36 warranty by miles. I would assume that would be cheaper not going to a dealer. Or should I go to a dealer because of the type of part.

You described the exact problem I had when my truck was at about 12,000 miles give or take a few. The dealer replaced the solenoid for the drivers side power door lock. It was frozen in the locked position. Pulling the button up with some force would allow you to open the door from the outside, but as soon as you let it go it popped back down. Warranty work. No problem since.

You need a new door latch solenoid assembly. They are not that expensive. I think I paid around $30 for mine at the dealer.

Read post #15 by Stew130 and he gives a pretty good description of the install. I did mine without much issue. It is a little tight fitting your hands in the door. Good as new afterward.

Well I just want to thank all of you who poster here, for making my "Find & Fix" process as simple as one could want!
I have been struggling with the ill fated "Door Won't Unlock" issue for a few weeks.
I made the mistake of calling my local Dodge dealer...and they had not heard of any door latch/lock related issues or any common failure...
What a bunch of useless , lazy, lying, self-serving, Did I mention Useless bunch of @#$%ers they are!!! IMO
So...I came on our site, hit the forum, did a quick search, and BANG...All the information including pricing, part number, detailed procedure to "Get 'r' Done.

One quick update...The dealer wholesale price has gone up to $46.13.
P/N 55372851AA is still good part #.

Thanks again to all of you that help us out, just because you can!
