door dinger
Anyone figured out where the darn dinger is. When I installed the brake controller the sound was driving me nuts. I removed it on the 97. Help before I am deaf.

jt

Re:door dinger
I hate to tell you this but the chime module is part of the instrument cluster. I believe this one chime is used to alert the driver to a number of conditions such as door ajar, low fuel, check guages, etc. Maybe a good set of ear plugs are your only option. ;D

Casey

Re:door dinger
If you can locate it, maybe some tape over it or some silicone over it might quiet it down. But you can't eliminate just the door dinger without losing all the chimes, some of which are handy (like the "lights on" one).

Re:door dinger
Do you want to eliminate the dinger when the key is in the ignition and the door is open? If you took the wire off the "key in ignition" switch I wonder if that would do it without causing some other problem. It is, from the service manual wiring diagrams, a light blue wire at the ignition switch.

Re:door dinger
You can shut the door dinger off by sliding a screwdriver shaft, or something simular through the door latch. Just make sure to pull on the door handle to open latch before you close the door, because this closes the latch.
