Man, that's rough.

I heard a new key is actually cheaper... if you already have a spare to program the new one.

something to keep in mind when installing a Viper alarm too. One of your spare keys has to be integrated into the system to utilize the door lock features.

I was lucky, one of mine was bent when I picked up the truck. They gave me a new one and let me keep the bent one. I went home put the bent key in my vise and cranked it straight...3 keys WOOT...WOOT!

Can you only have a spare made at the Dodge dealer? Also, how much does it cost to get a spare if you have both keys still?

For my 03, I found a place in a mall that cut keys. They had the chipped Dodge blanks, and cut me one for about $20. I programmed it with my other 2 keys (see the manual). For the 05, I went to a locksmith, and he cut me one for $45. I programmed it using my 2 keys(see the manual). Price of chipped blanks varies from place to place. No need to go to Dodge if you have the 2 original keys- unless money is no object?

Once again, Dodge dealers come to the rescue of their customers. $300 for a freaking $40 key.

Anybody know of a place other than the dealer to get a new key programmed if you only have one key? When I bought my truck it was supposed to have two but I was given only one and then told that was all there was. I love my truck but if anybody ever asks me where to by one, I will be glad to explain why I say they should never trust Daytona Dodge in Florida.

Yes Megan, you need two keys to be able to program a third one yourself, other wise it's a trip to the dealer. And I'll bet Silverbullet had the remote entry key to cost that much!
F.Y.I you can pickup blank chipped on ebay for about $20-$25 & program them yoursely IF you have two keys!
