i know alot of ppl said not to complain and just pay for it yourself, but IT SHOULD TELL US ALL SOMETHING ABOUT DC...take time to deal with them and they KNOW they outta warranty that. they dont care about you as a customer when they have thousands more ppl who dont have a broken AC door. they agreed to pay half cause its a BS deal not to cover that under warranty. i see a dmax in my future.

Yesterday with the return of warm weather I switched to the dash vents from defrost. Mine is really messed up now. It sounds like a helicopter is flying inside the heater box. I played and played with selector and finally got the noise to stop, only to return later on. The control is now working worse than ever. I can't get the air to quit coming out of the dash vents no matter what I try. With the heater on and the temperature turned up, cold air still trickles out of the dash vents. I e-mailed DC customer service this morning and voiced my displeasure. We should not have to pay $800-$900 to have something fixed that DC knows is a problem. I sure hope my windshield doesn't unexpectedly fog up and cause me to crash. This should be a recall. My truck is just slightly three years old and has 42K miles on the odometer. The control was previously sluggish but nothing like it is now.

Everyone that has this problem needs to contact DC customer service. Any lawyers out there with this problem that want to start a class action law suit?

So now I have to be a lawyer AND a mystic before signing a contract!

A lawyer, so that I can understand the the intentionally obscure language, and a mystic, so that I can accurately guess which one of the 13,000 parts will fail and when?

If I were you, I would demand a refund on the Ext. Warranty, and use the money to fix the truck.

My son had the same problem. '03 60k miles and has extended warranty. Blend door kaput. The dealer said it wasn't covered. He found another dealer who fixed it under the extended warranty.

Brand new 02 owner....

and frankly, I'm quite disappointed reading all these stories about warranties not covering repairs, especially when it involves known factory design flaws and defects.

Without getting into lengthy discussions about work ethic and corporate america, all I can say is:

1. I never buy extended warranties. I used to own a dealership and extended warranties are a HUGE profit center on adding incremental profit to a dealer's bottom line. They are not worth the money. Is is exactly like going to Las Vegas and believing you will make more money than the casino. Extended warranty sales commissions are usually 100%. So, if you buy one for $700, that means $350 went to the dealership/salesperson and $350 went for the warranty. Even at $350, you are betting that you will have a repair that is covered (less deductable) that will pay back the $350, and the warranty company is betting you won't. Guess who writes, interprets and enforces the terms of the contract? You guessed it! And it ain't you. They have thousands of customers to build a database of experience on and you have a salesman trying to make a commision. A full compliment contract lawyers training the claims processors and waiting for the eventual litigation hardly seems fair. You have a better chance winning at the black jack table than you do in beating the extended warranty. After all, the warranty company is making a profit on those assumptions. If they weren't, they'd be out of business. Last time I looked, they were doing extremely well.

2. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose by having you cave in and getting it fixed on your dime. You might cry and complain, but then they need to make a sale TODAY, while you just want to ensure that a major unplanned expense doesn't sideline your wheels. In the final analysis, when a problem and irrecocilable dispute does arise, they are betting you will go away, or at least be out of sight/out of mind and will and with enough time, eventually become part of the past. Unless you have no job and can initiate a full time campaign of being relentless in your pursuit of getting "whole", the dealership will dismiss you as being a hot-head, that you will eventually lose interest and cool off and fold. For the most part, they are correct. You will give up and go away.

In summary, DON'T BUY THIS STUFF. If you do, and try to file a claim, be relentless and be calm as you can, keep the heat on and push as hard and as high as possible, to get what you want. It's about the only recourse you have. Lawsuits are not an option. A lawsuit only helps the guy who has the most $'s - usually the dealer/Warranty company and not you.

DC agreed to pay 1/2 on mine. 1/2 is better than nothing but it still sucks that we should have to pay any amount for a known defect. It has been 2 1/2 weeks since the parts were ordered and I am still waiting on the call from the dealer.

I just got mine out of the shop yesterday. With DC paying 1/2 it cost me $249.25. As I expected there are some minor scratches here and there but not as bad as I imagined it would be. No squeaks or rattles either.

I would first say I don't pay for an extended warrantee. I feel if it has not been a problem the first 36,000 chances are it won't start. has worked for me over the years. those that say it says ac/heat it should cover it. this is why you need to read the fine print. I bet it does cover the compressor as it will the evaporator, condensor and the hoses. heater core and fan. I bet the box and door it don't.

Well I do not think it is even in the fine print of the papers you sign for the warr. I can not believe that anyone would think that the door would not be covered under AC or heat.It is plain and simple if the the air is not going where it is supposed to go through the vents then its broke. The defrost issue it self should fall under a safety recall. This is a problem that DC knows about and they should step up to the plate and fix it.
