debadging help

IS there something magical you have to do get saw the badges off with fishing line? i am trying to get the RAM head off my tailgate and it is being a real pain. I have already taken off the Lone Star and SLT badges but they came off much easier that this big bad boy.

any suggestions welcome please!

You could get some heavier line.. I used 25lb line on mine and it seemed to do ok.

I used 100lb test line. A heat gun just to soften it up and with a pair of gloves did a slight sawing action working my away all around the badge till I got to the middle then POP. With the adhesive wheel dont leave it in one spot for too long it tends to get VERY hot.

GoodLuck

I just pulled the dang thing off. Then with my fingers sorta rolled up the black goo and pulled it off. Alcohol is the best at getting the adheisive off.

Not sure what they do at the factory, but the emblems on the tailgate were by far the hardest to remove.

The big square ones on the sides were much harder for me, just cause there was a ton of adhesive on them.

I would use some of the braided line, its thinner and the braid will act like a saw. Its not cheap so I would recommend finding a tackle shop that sells in bulk so you only need a yard.

Just use the WD-40.. spray it on and let it soak in for a little.

it desolves the adheasive. does no damage to the trim or paint.

then just was your truck.

peace

Has any one tried using Ammonia for dissolving the glue? I know that it will dissolve the glue on the beer bottles that I am removing the labels one. Not sure what the Ammonia will do for the paint though.

I just did my tailgate yesterday and here is what I did.

30 lb mono fishing line, braided line will cut the tape much better but use gloves as it will cut you very easily too.

I tried the wd-40 trick to get the addhesive off and it took forever. Instead I used 4" pieces of duct tape...yes duct tape. Cut the badge off with fishing line, carefully pick off any of the black foam backing from the badgewith your fingernail. Whatever clear addhesive is left, use the duct tape to pull it off. Just keep tapping and peeling the tape and it will pull the glue off no problem, fresh tape seems to work best so freshen up as needed. Seems the glue sticks to the tape better than the truck paint, wax off any marks and finger prints and presto, debadge. Good luck.
