Dealer Option - lift/tire/wheels/+more

At the dealer today and saw 4 lifted trucks, two mega cabs and two quad cabs. Added options on seperate sticker:

Leather seats
Wheels (Motto Metal 20x10 two different styles)
Tires (Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrains 325/60R20s
Pocket Flares painted to match
Dodge Nerf Bars
6" Lift (Two were Fabtech, not sure about the other two, they had dual stabilizers and did not look like Fabtech)

$9,995.00

Probably not a bad price for the package considering the install labor, etc. But way to much for me to think about. I don't like to know how much I have spent on mods and seeing it all at once is more than sticker shock.

Total price on the Mega Cabs was around $59,500 and the Quad Cabs were around $56,500. Would need to see $16,000 at least off of that price to get in the reasonable range.

Just something I saw while taking care of things this morning. Couple of cell phone pics.

Nice trucks, but overall they couldn't cost more than 5K to do extra. Scotty

Sounds high to me. And you should be able to run 37" tires if they used the correct size wheel. You could save quite a bit by paying others to do it for you and a ton if you do it yourself.

I know the cost is high on the sticker for the mods, that is why the sticker is only the beginning barganing point. Parts for the mods is around $5,000 give or take $500 or so, maybe a little more, don't know what Leather seats costs.

Just thought it interesting to see dealer packaging a pretty decent setup.

Just my opinion, but it's those dang 20" rims, I wouldn't go bigger than 18" myself. Never really cared for 20+" wheels on lifted trucks.

I agree with everyone else, shouldn't cost more than 5k for all those mods.

I looked at a couple of Mega Cab's here in Oklahoma that were lifted with 20's, one had a custom bumper w/winch and all kinds of stuff that looked overdone to me. The dealer's that had them here didn't do the work, it was done by an aftermarket shop. They were trying to make money both ways on those trucks. Plus, that takes all the fun out of modding a truck yourself...

When I bought my truck I asked the dealer about having the lift, wheels, tires, and powersteps installed. The gave me a price of $14,875.00 ouch.
I went to the 4wheel store and got everything done for 7,100

the only plus of getting it from the dealer is that they warranty all the extras and any other problems you might encounter as a result of having a 6" lift.

Yeah there are cheaper ways to do it.

As far as aftermarket lift is concerned if you do it yourself... They won't warranty those parts obviously and you can't get a free alignment before the 12,000 mile cut off on that. I'd imagine drivetrain vibrations might not be covered too unless you can prove something is their fault. If you're geared right then transmission should be fine as well... get 4.10s for those 35s.

Think of it this way... Seems like a well optioned SLT or basic Laramie is about 45,000 msrp (what my laramie was listed at). Then how much can you get off? I've heard 10K-15K off around houston.

Then add 5K to that price... What would you be at? Like 37 grand total?

If you had to finance I wouldn't pay more than 40-42K for those trucks.

That MegaCab above is sweet looking, but I would not pay $15k for those mods. When I looked at an '07 not too long ago, the dealer had added clearance lights and leather seats to an SLT at a price of $1800. I asked the salesman about the cab lights, and he said, "Oh those are an extra $500." Yeah right, $70 for lights and $430 for labor???? Needless to say, I am still driving my 04.5.
