Dead 2006 Ecm????
I posted earlier that my truck was in the shop for a few things. Only a couple could possibly have anything to do with the ECM. The service advisor called me a couple hours ago and said good thing I brought it in when I did or I could have had to have been towed there. Can you guys imagine an ECM going with no mods and only 4600 miles??? Any thoughts on if it could have been affecting my mpg and engine knocks since new? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. I am concerned what caused it and how the truck will be long term? Remember this is a 2006 with 4500 miles!! I never had a problem on my 03 up to 46k when I traded it. I just had to have the Auto and Laramie. I thought?? Later.

lots of things will die in short order or run forever, look at a hard drive for your computer, if it doesn't fail in a month it will work for darn near ever, same thing with yur truck, its one of those things,. sensitve items, with above mentionec posible cold solder joint, only takes one componenet to go and of the thousands packed into an ecm it happens. Long term? should not have anyeffect, unless it was causing such poor running to cause mechanical damage. Just keep documented in case it does begin to show more trouble. Who knows, they might have built your truck on may 6th ( cinco de mayo celebration ) coming the day before can't be a good thing for things built on the 6th.

Infant mortality... the tendancy for a small sample of electrical parts or assemblies to fail shortly after being put into service. Happens in just about every electrical muanfacturing business, from computers to circuit breakers. Have them check your truck for codes. If the ECM went there is a small chance it could have taken another sensor or axuillary device with it. I wouldn't worry to much, good thing we have warranties. Good luck.

I bought this $1300 Gateway computer and THEY did all the downloads from my old one while I watched and waited.Drove 45 miles home, hooked it up and NOTHING! Not a blip.called Gateway in case I was being stupid. They said NO dead tower.I said BUT BUT it JUST was working.Drove 45 miles BACK to the store and They said BUT it just was working.Plugged it in.NOTHING.Took side of it off and wiggled the tape wire and BINGO it worked.Quickly downloaded all of it again to another new tower and alls been fine since.
