cylinder misfire

My truck was missing on a cylinder briefly two weeks ago and pulled a code indicating 'misfire on #2'.

The check engine light was also on but cleared itself after several successful restarts.

I replace my fuel filter every 15000 with a Geno's 7 micron, the current filter has 6000 miles on it.

I added a ton of Power Service and am running a tankful through.

Seems to be running fine, no 'check engine' light or codes, though I occasionally feel a rough idle or stumble at idle.

My wife and kids are taking it to Phoenix so I'm asking you guys if it's worth having Dodge look at it or am I worrying too much.

Does the truck just die if an injector fails?

thanks a lot

an injector will fail in 2 ways.
#1 die completely, as in no fuel(the better of the 2 options) and you are down to 5 cylinders, so you can still limp it somewhere.
#2 sticks open, as in 100% fuel all the time(the worst scenario) you will fill the crankcase with diesel, blown lube oil and diesel out the breather and coat the underside of the truck and anyone following you, dilute the lube oil with diesel and risk wiping bearings, NOT drive anywhere.

I had a problem close to this here a couple weeks ago now. Turned out to be the wiring under the valve cover had rubbed a bare spot in it. It was doing that once in awhile untill it just went out on the way back from Wisconsin. If you get the same code pull the cover and the riser plate turn it over and look at your injector wiring to make sure it isn't rubbing a bare spot in the wire like mine did.

So how is the truck used?? Daily commute? big heavy azz trailers all the time? Looking at the trip data with the DRB would give load percentages. If it's your daily driver odds are you have a little carbon buildup. I've had a few of the local show pony lift em up high putt around town guys with rough running, knock when in gear issues. Couple tanks using Standyne cures most of them.

It's a daily driver, all city, never tows anymore and I drive fairly sedately as I'm getting older and slower.

I need an oil change anyway, is there a simple, cheap way for the dealer to test if the injectors are functioning properly, like a scan tool?

I'll get some Stanadyne today as well,

thanks
