Cruise Control

I have a couple issues with my cruise control. On all my other vehicles that I have owned, if I press the accel button three times the vehicle increase 3mph. On my new truck I was going 70 and pressed the accel button three times, it sped up past 80 before I shut it off and reset it. The other issue is I had the cruise set at 75 and then stopped, after getting it back up to about 50 I hit the resume button and the rpms went way up and stayed there, the truck did not speed up. I then hit cancel and sped up to 75 and hit resume and it worked normal. Any thoughts?

I do not know if it matters but I only hit it twice (from the manual). Mine works fine, accelerates 3-4 mph and decelerates 3 mph. I have noticed that hitting the cruise to accelerate from say 50 to 75 mph AND the RPM'S are low, the truck will really take it's time getting up to speed. I just wait till it's within 5 mph of setpoint then engage. I hope that is all it is. That acceleration past setpoint does'nt sound good . May have to take it in.

What I remember from the manual....Accelerate is good for 2mph....Decelerate is good for 1MPH.

after getting it back up to about 50 I hit the resume button and the rpms went way up and stayed there, the truck did not speed up
Sounds more like an interaction between the trans & cruise. Have you been able to dulicate the problem?

I have an 06 and when I push the accel button it speeds the truck up about 3 MPH. As I recall it says in the owners manual that the accel button would increase speed by 3mph.
I've never used the cruise that way you did, I have always waited until I was closer to the speed which it was set at before hitting resume.

Thanks for the info. That will answer the accel prob. (operator error ) As for the other problem it is something between the controller and the transmission. It drops down a gear even tho it doesn't need to then it won't shift up. I usually don't resume until I am closer to the speed either, but I did this one time and yes I can duplicate it. Does this happen on everyones or is mine Special!

Maybe I misunderstood the part about the rpm going way up. I was resuming the cruise at a 50 and expecting the truck to accelerate to 75, I notice that the transmission just shifted out of overdrive. The rpm went up and the truck slooooowly accelerated to 75. The speed picked up when the T/C locked back up. I think my experience had something with how the cruise affects the transmision. I did'nt even think about the transmission slipping good catch.
