The laminated glass reduces interior noise...according to Dodge.

The CHIPS which evolves into a cracked can eaither be in the production of the glass, handling of the glass at production(machinery that handles it)or at the assembly plant and or a rough, non padded spot in the window regulator assembly.I think its interesting that WITHOUT the new way info is passed around(computer)that the manufacture could deny these repairs an get away with it and very few BUT THEM would be the wiser.I'd print this thread and send a copy to the Dealer owner,S.M.,DSM and D.C. comsumer no help folks.I can understand a dealer or service manager not knowing and declaining over a CHIP.BUT the D.S.M could have run the operation code for this glass repair through warranty operations and seen if it was being used a lot or none etc.nation wide and what was the failure reason.Warranty ops parts and labor are transmitted daily from dealer to D.C. for payment etc.The INFO IS ALL in a BIG COMPUTER.

sorry all, newb here.. what does DC stand for?
Also, my rear drivers side window (mega cab) had a huge scuff in the glass when i bought it. The dealer is going to change it. Could this be part of the issue, internal scraping somehow?

Daimler Chrysler=DC

scuffing could be from a dirty window being rolled down.

Yes it's the truck in my sig, and it's happening to all of them with the laminated glass not just the Mega's.

I guess I should have clarified that it's the dealer and DC have have made this "relatively" minor problem into a major ordeal. I spent several hours on the phone to DC, several trips to the dealer, several trips to a local glass shop, and generally wasted a ton of time to get this taken care of. To top it all off the dealer called to say it was done, but it would be about an hour and a half before they could come and get me to get the truck. If I felt like driving 4 1/2 hours to the dealer where I bought it it would have been taken care of after one phone call.

As far as the truck goes I love it! Just did a 1700 mile roundtrip to race my boat. Tows like a dream. Averaged about 18mpg (hand). Rides and drives better than the last 4 gas Rams I've had.

Don't buy the first production year of anything.

Speaking from experience, I work for a large OEM supplier.

I agree - I used to be National Service Manager for an OEM, and it was shocking how often they did their R&D in the field through sales of new units.
Warranty work was unbelievable!

If it was my truck, I'd pull a door panel and see what's stressing the glass.
Probably pretty obvious when viewed from inside rollong up.
Perhaps something can be shimmed.
I realise it's a pain, but Lord knows when DC will create a TSB/fix for it, if ever.

Good luck.
