a couple annoyances with my new 06

i went from a 2003 1500 hemi to a 2006 2500 CTD. i am totally loving the new truck, but there were a couple of changes from my 2003 that i don't like:

1. my 2003 had adjustable cup holders that came out of the dash and worked great with every sized beverage. my 2006 has a floor console with short, rubber sided holders that don't hold worth a crap.

2. my 2003 with electric seats had electric lumber support that worked great. my 2006 with electric seats has manual lumber support that works it way back to no support in a couple of minutes. the dial just won't stay where i put it.

i do like the firmer seats and updated interior. at first i didn't care for the new front end, but it has grown on me and i like it. overall i think this is going to be a great truck for many miles and years. we're going camping this weekend and i can't wait to pull the travel trailer.

i used a clay bar to clean the surface and polished on 2 coats of sealer. the mineral gray metallic is shinning really nice now.

here is the hemi she replaced. someone is going to get a great-looking, well-maintained 1/2 ton.

I think that you have the exact same truck that I have. I agree on the cup holders, my 2000 Dakota had the pull out variety that seemed to function a whole lot better than these. Oh well, better than nothing I guess.

I did the say as you, went from a 2003 3/4 ton to a 2006 diesel 3/4 ton. I pulled my big toy hauler up a steep hill to Pason AZ from Mesa and was down to 30 mph in 1st gear in the hemi at 6 MPG. I now set the diesel at 60 on cruise control and it stays there with twice the millage. I think your lumbar is broken, I don't have problems with mine. Make sure the next time you take it to the dealer, you ask for any computer upgrades. They had one for my truck and I had more power and better MPG. Nice shine.

I think the lumbar is broken too. Mine I have the manual kind as well and it broke when I pushed myself back into the seat... no I'm not overweight. I wound up taking my seat apart and fixing it in a permant fashion with about 75% of the lumbar support working.

You need a cup smoothie from Genos Garage that will cure your drink problems.

That front dealer tag looks like a Woodhouse tag. Just a stab in the dark.

Any annoyances you have with the truck will go away when you make your first long trip towing that travel trailer in the background. I went from a 98 1500 5.9 to the Cummins and I am towing about the same size trailer. The 1500 would strain up the hills, the Cummins doesn't even flinch. I think I could probably hook up 3 of those trailers and tow better than the 1500.

we just got back from our first camping trip using the new truck. nothing like pulling a trailer up a hill in overdrive at 55 and the speedo not dropping. the trip out was a touch bumpy but i adjusted my weight distribution hitch at the campsite. i adjusted it so the rear drops 1/2" and the front 1/8" and the ride home was smooth.

i'm going to contact the dealer about the lumber support. my back likes the extra lumbar support and i want them to take care of it.

brad - yup, that is a woodhouse tag. i've bought my last 3 vehicles from them and no one can touch their prices. they have always given me the best new price and best trade in price. i think they were the third largest dodge/jeep/chrysler dealer in the nation last year.

a few people PM'd me about how i get the shine on my trucks. i get all my auto products from a local company call hi temp. i use their terminator paint sealant and apply it with a porter cable polisher. after it dries, it wipes off with little effort using a microfiber towel. it cures in 36 hours and the protection lasts a lot longer than wax.

this company sell hi temp products online

I agree with cup holders, you look like you take care of trucks real well like me so watch out for this. If you try and put a under half full beverages in the holders it will shoot it back out. I try and keep my vehicle immaculate and the day I shoved a grape juice in the holder and it shot it into the passenger floor board I cried. The good news is they do loosen up after a while but be careful.
