I have to agree on the Cooper ATR's. I absolutely hate tire noise and these things are very quiet. Easily pushing 35,000 miles on mine in 315/70/R17 and wearing quite well. Only slight vibration until they get warm then it goes away but they probably need rebalanced. Have done EXCELLENT for me in the snow and OK in mud. If you want good handling and traction with a decent-looking and quiet tire I say get the ATRs. Also have them on the plow truck with good results so far - especially for the price. I like the looks of mud tires as much as the next guy but lets be realistic - they are noisy and wear quickly with highway use and for the average driver are just not practical unless you drive off-road regularly or just want the looks and don't care about noise.

I've used Cooper ST's on a Ford only lasted 10,000 miles on gravel roads. Switched to ST-C's, They are lasting better more like the Toyo M-55's that I also run. They all make some noise since they are a more aggressive tread.

ATR 285's .... No Noise.
Last set I got 75K miles and could have gotten more... they were just getting to the wear bars....
I bought a new set and after they get about 20K miles... they seem to stop wearing...
Rotate every 10K >> And I have centramatics balancers... they help big time!

Big difference between AT (Cooper ATR) and MT (Cooper STT) tires,

It is tough to make an informed decision about a Mud Terrain tires, wear, and road noise based off an All Terrain tires. AT tires by default are less aggressive and usually better on the pavement than an MT tires. They get better wear and produce less noise. Therefore, if your direction is towards that, then look at the AT tires. If you want that aggresive look, but are willing to sacrafice tire wear and longevity, then the MT tire is for you... Just my .02

Try the firestone destination m/t's. By far the best m/t i've ever run. Not sure about how loud they are(stacks......) but they ride and handle great. The dually pulls like a freight train through the logging trails with these.

I run the 285 ATR's with 25k on them with no problems. Also tire noise is non-existent for me.

315 ATR's here, too. No complaints whatsoever! I was tempted by the more aggressive STT, too, but looking at Cooper's Comparison Matrix, ATR's were better in most, and at least as good in all, categories than the STT except "off road". The STT's look cooler, but I went with the more practical, better performing (for ME!) ATR's.

I'm Running Cooper Zeon LTZ 305-55-20 they are by far the best tire that Copper has made. You will not find them on there web site yet. If you go to American Tire thats where you will find them. American Tire is the only one selling this tire at the moment Copper has gave them the exclusive rights to sell them as a trial basis. They look slightly agressive and are quiet and they gave me a 50000 mile warranty on the tire. Also they were the cheaper of all there tires in this size. and also E rated.

They're on coopertires.com in the SUV listings. Only available in 18+ inch wheel sizes.

Yes that is correct they only come in 18+ wheels. But you must be looking at the Copper Zeon XSTon the web site. They are different than the Copper Zeon LTZ

i hate to dig up an old thread... but, how are the ATRs holding up? local store is running buy 3 get 4th free + $50 rebate... i'm looking at getting a set of 285/70/17s

i was running 285's and had about 20K miles on them and they looked great but I wen tto had them rotated and they wouldn't put them back on because the insides were cracking

My ATR's are doing fine. Got some chunks off the outside edge from rocks, though.
