Cooper Discoverer Owners??? Likes/ Dislikes???

Is anyone running the cooper discoverer AT tires? It is getting to be that time when every large truck owner fears, new tires and a second mortgage to pay for them Anyway, I have always been a fan of coopers, but I am not sure how they hold up on these larger trucks. Looking for any input that you might have. I am definitly planning on going with an A/T because I am not always on the road, but I also don't spend a lot of time off road so those discoverers look pretty good. Thank you for any input

I put a set on my 98 cummins and I hatted them. Poor traction in the snow and they wore very fast. I have a freind with a Dakota that has them and he hates them as well. He is not happy with how fast they are wearing. I dont know how many miles mine would have made because I traded it with abought 15k on the tires and there was a significant amount of wear. The only tire I have been less happy with is my current Nitto Tera Graplers. I bought them used with abought 10k on them and I have put 5 more on, and the set that came off the back of the last truck are flat out shot. I have them on the front and they are just short of bald. The ones that came off the front of the last truck are on the back of mine and have shown significant wear in the last 5k miles.

When I was getting my tires rotated last week, a lady driving a 2nd gen. came in with Coopers and said she hated them. Almost worn bald w/ 30k. I've run them in the past and agree with the above comments. Not a real long lasting tire, nor good in snow or mud. But they are usually cheaper than Michelin or BFG.

getting cooper H/T 235/80-17's put on today, $180 per tire mounted and balanced, I don t know if thats a good price but from the cost of Goodyears and others I think it is reasonable, I will report on how they wear, I dont haul much but I do travel a lot.

I just put a set of Cooper ATR's on mine, 285/70/17's, $189 out the door. This is the first I have went other than BFG so I am curious to see how they wear.

I have ATR's. Installed 10/20/04.
I have 54000 miles on them and there is probably 20000 miles of tread left.
I rotate every 8000 miles and have not noticed a major cupping issue yet.
Had Rugged trail T/A, hated them.
Whatever tire you buy make sure the tread is open enough to allow water to get away. T/A did not and I had problems hitting standing water, tire would hydroplane.

I had a set on my old 95 1500. They wore quickly. My 01 2500 had Michelins stock, and I installed a new set shortly after 36K. They had some tread left, but with the heat and towing we do I feel more comfortable with good tread. At 78 I installed some Remington Wide Brute RVs. They were $402 out the door and I mounted and balanced them. Time will tell, but they were 300 bucks cheaper than the Michelins.

I just had a set of Cooper Discoverer ST 265/70R17's put on my company truck last Friday. Over the past few days I've had the opportunity to run them loaded and unloaded on the highway, muddy lease roads, gravel roads, and up/down the side of a mountain lease road.

I'm sold! Currently, I absolutely love them - 1100 km on them and counting. Time will tell how they wear however.

I have a set on my Bronco I use for hunting and they have been great so far. All it is ever used in is mud, rocks and gravel and I have never had a flat on them and never been stuck. I have been thinking about a set for my truck when I need to replace the factory tires as long as I can get them in load range E.

I have the Cooper S/T tires. They last a long time. I am getting ~ 5-6k miles per 1/32 tread wear. IIRC, they have 18/32 tread depth new.

Bought new ones recently. Switched to 235-85-16, in place of the 215s. Tires were $120/ea + mnt/bal and new valve stems.

Cooper discoverer AT's are in my opinion junk. Had a set put on, within a few months, had one replaced, few months later had another one replaced. They absolutely rode terrible, and the shop could not keep them balanced. Shop told me the belts kept messing up in the tire. Anyway, that is just my experience with these tires, I know I will never purchase them again. The ATR's look good.

I currently have cooper discoverer S/T's on my truck and love them. Nice meaty tread, definitely an all-terrain tire........but I am also getting excellent treadwear out of them and they are load range E. I believe I can get 50K out of them.
