Watch for an increase of oil on your dip stick. Your engine should not make oil, so if it starts gaining extra oil you have a problem.

Wouldn't an oil analysis tell you if you have a BAD (leaking) injector? As there would be fuel in the oil??

Usually when an injector fails it is a catastrophic event, filling the crankcase with diesel quite rapidly. If you do a search for recent posts you will see that in 5-10 miles you will go thru 10 or more gallons of diesel. In my case it 11 miles used 12 gallons of fuel so it will be obvious. I had no symptoms other than the full crankcase all at once.

Were you running any pressure boxes?

Didn't the truck start to run REALLY bad?
Did you have to replace the engine?

Speaking of black oil,
I just did the second oil change on my 07', (first at 2500, second at 8000) and it was the blackest oil I have ever seen!!
I filled the crankcase with 3 gallons of clean Rotella T and fired it up to circulate the fresh oil until I saw oil pressure biuld.
I then moved on to the fuel filter. After the fuel filter was done I checked the oil level (figuring it would have settled out by now) and was surprised to see the new oil was already black!! I can't believe the residual oil in the motor was black enough to contaminate 3 gallons of fresh. I guess I should tighten up my oil change intervals.
