Old thread, I know. I searched other threads, but couldn't get a deffinate answer. I still have the clunk/thump in my 06 steering wheel. I'm pretty sure it is the steering intermediate shaft. Probably gonna order the Borgeson replacement, but looking for a little more input on this. Has anyone else had to replace this shaft on a 3rd gen due to the clunk, and if so, was it the fix, or was it something in the actual gear box? I do feel a little play and the clunk when the wife turns the wheel, but just want to double check with others. Is there a better replacement than the Borgeson for those of you that have experienced this problem? Thanks guys.

I had the clunk. Dealer replace the intermediate shaft under warranty. No problems since.

Hmmm My 07 is more like a cheap rattle! Man I can't believe that this is what is happening here! I called Chrysler and gave them my VIN and I bet you will never guess what the Guy said after putting me on hold for 5min!! Sorry there are no recalls at this time????? I have to say this is very disturbing indeed! I really loved this Truck when I got it 15k ago.. It was as smooth as glass. Until I hit a pot hole that seemed like your average pot hole as far as I was concerned.....
The Front end has never been the same since. So far the only thing that really looked bad was the front wheel bearing.. I need to troubleshoot this steering box because I believe it to be the culprit? Can anyone give me any specifics on how to determine if it's bad or not??

Well, if it makes you feel any better (sarcasim), I had my steering box replaced at 22k miles. Now, it seems like my intermediate shaft is shot. Was hoping to get a little info on whether or not the Borgeson replacement shaft held up, or if it was just a temperary fix. Good luck.
