Cleaner for Chrome Exhaust tip

Finally got some sun here in Oregon, and I am trying to clean the road grime off my truck. What works best to clean tough black soot of my nice chrome exhaust tip?

Mother's polish will do the trick. Probably any polish but I always liked Mother's better than any other brands.

i have some good stuff, its like pink acid. works good on chrome rims, and chrome exhaust...

The problem is i don't know what the same of it is, i buy it at a local refrigerator repair shop.

if chrome rimes (2nd gen) have kinda rust on it, it removes nicely!!!

I've always used the turtle wax chrome polish, I believe available at walmart. It's my personal favorite, prolly better out there I suppose, but works great for me!

I'll second that. Nothing fancy, it just works.

The "pink acid stuff" is exactly that - acid. It's used for cleaning aluminum coils on refrigeration and a/c equipment. Cleans aluminum real well- just don't get it on your hands and rinse everything it touches with lots of water. It cleans it but aluminum usually needs polished after using it. I've found an S.O.S steel wool pad works great on my tip but it's stainless. It would probably scratch chrome.

I was just getting ready to say NEVR DULL...spend a few years in the lower ranks in the military (mainly the Navy polishing all the brass on the ship) and you will learn quickly what works and what doesn't...I "commandeered" a can of it from the ship and brought it home for my chrome...works wonders. Simply rub it in deep, let air dry, then buff off...

The active ingredient in nail polish remover is acetone. Acetone has little effect on factory clear coat paint. Cheap paint or "repaint" paint will be affected. I've used acetone to remove the adhesive left behind when doing a de-badge on my '04. No adverse effects on it. Oven cleaner will take the black off. Basiclly the same stuff as what's caked on it your oven.

Wenol or MAAS. I know you can get MAAS at Walmart in the cleaners section. It's a really good all metals polish. A little goes a long way. Don't use it on chrome plated plastics though.

if its a stainless tip, just use super fine steel wool and some sort of solvent/cleaner.....2 minutes yer done. I use gasoline or castrol super clean whatever is handly.
