Check Engine Light- 2X in First 400mi.!!
My truck now has 400 mile son it and the check engine light went on at approx. 200 miles (was told it was the battery temp. sensor. - cleaned dried and reset - on my way). It went on again this morning at 400 miles. Turned key ignition on 3 times and code read P 0514. Going to look this up.
2 times in 400 miles seems excessive. Now my co-workers are teasing me with 'You should have bought a Chevy of Ford", depending on which co-worker is doing the teasing!
I hope this is not turning into a Lemon Law situation!!!
Any of you experience this this early in the trucks life?
Not real happy right now after just spending $42,000!!!
Thanks!!

Its a fairly commom code. I've gotten it 4 or 5 times in less the 10K miles. Others have also complained about it. It seems to me to appear when the outside air is very damp and the truck sits for awhile. I understand from posts on this forum as well as others that there is going to be a TSB issued to care for this. We'll wait and see.

I'd say two times is lucky....Mine has been throwing that code all winter. About the time I think it isn't going to come back it does. At first I thought it was coming on when the temperature got cold. Lately we've had some really cold temps and the light stayed off. I'm not sure if it is temperature or humidiity that is causing the problem. I haven't taken mine to the dealer because from what I've read there is no real fix for this problem yet. Somewhere I read that a dealer stated it was a computer issue.

Just check your codes every so often. As long as you don't get anything else, just keep driving it. I believe the code is triggered when the battery temp is out of the range considered 'normal'. Keep a look out for a fix in the future and enjoy your truck.

Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality ??? Really??? I had no idea it had such a sensor . Does that mean I should'nt be washing the motor? Where is it located?

Had my battery temp sensor replaced.
Mine kept throwing codes, too. Had the sensor replaced. No more codes. No one likes driving around with the check engine light on, even if it's something unimportant.

Truck is in shop. Servive writer stated that sensor appeared to be bad (activating when it shouldn't) and the computer was doing what it was supposed to do - turn check engine light on when told to do so by a sensor.
They are replacing the sensor today and I should be back on the road this PM. Let's see if the problem is solved? I don't like the idea of driving around with the light on, especially after paying $42,000 for the truck. It would negate the idea of a check engine light - to inform operator of potential serious problems.
Just my $.02
I'll post an update on replaced sensor after a few weeks.
Thanks!

I hope you didnt pay $42k for your truck, heck I only paid $33k for mine and it's like yours!
Second, stuff like this is gonna happen. I dont care how much you pay for this truck or any other brand of truck. Just hope you dont loose an injector pump like I did and truck is in teh shop for almost 2 weeks, mainly because of the holidays.
Anyway, good luck with the truck!! I love mine!

Actually the truck was about $37K plus T&L. Some of the upgrades were pricey (GPS $1700, Sport Group $520, UConnect $300, Premium Cloth $455, etc.). Did you get all of this for $33K? If you did, that's a steal!! The MSRP on my truck was $44805. I paid about $600 under invoice after everything was said and done.

How do you go about checking the code? My check engine light came on a few days ago and I have not been able to get to the dealer. Also where do I find out what the code means?

Joker, turn ignition key on/off 3 times and should appear on odometer. Codes are listed on this site under Tech Facts, then Common FAQ, and then Computer Fault Codes.
Hope this helps!
