IMO the car fax just tells you how good the last person covered up what happened to his/her car/truck.

My friend has a Jaguar and he slide it of the road and did a bunch of front end damage.... no cops showed up he had the work done and never reported it, so it wont show on a car fax report.

just check it for overspray and body panel bolts with paint missing(from a socket or wrench)

I've had a bad experience with CarFax as well.
They might catch what happened two owners ago, if ever. It only updates after to make your purchase and register the vehicle in your name. By then of course it's too late to find out your car was actually totalled. That's what happened to me on my wife's (previous) vehicle.

Thanx Chuck! I decided to put a deposite on it last night, it was exactly what I was lookin for. Up in these parts it's prety hard to find this type of truck that hasn't been beat up in the oilfield. Thanx again guys.

On the other hand, a Utah truck will have fry sauce* stains in the back seats and Pepsi sludge in the cup holders (we like our caffeine cold). Oh, and make sure you check the underbody good for rust (lots of salt on the roads around these parts) and the windshield for rock chips. And the shocks will be shot from the crappy roads. Stuff Car Fax won't tell you.
