capacities needed for switch to amsoil
I am getting ready to switch my truck over to Amsoil in the rears trans. and tran transfer case. Could someone give me the capacities that they hold. Also i see amsoil transmision fluid is qualified for atf +4. Do I need to flush the whole system or can you drop the pan and refill? The truck has 14,000 miles on it(48re). Is there a benifit to running the motor oil if you do not run the bypass system? If so which grade of thier oil do you recommend? I currently use the rotella changing every 5,000 but do not care for the burnt oil smell the first 1000 miles after a change. Thanks for the help.

The best way to do the Tranny is take it someplace and have them power flush it with the new AMSOIL, about 5 gals.
I run the heavy duty 15w-40, if you want to spend even more then you can go with the series 2 or 3000 3w 30 diesel oil.
I'm inthe process of installing the bypass system and I already have the AMSOIL air filter installed.
The transfer takes ATF+4 also. Use whats left of the 5 gallons of ATF.
The rear end takes about 4 qts and I believe the front takes 3qts.
go to this link for more info:

Diffs took a total of 7 qts of 75W-90
Trans took 7 qts of ATF with just dropping the pan (I added a B&M drain plug while it was down.)
I run AME 15W-40 motor oil and SDF-80 filter.

I run the dual bypass and 5w 30 oil. I've had in in since 6k and I've got 63k now. I change the oil 1nc a yr and filters twice even though the oil analysis says its fine. Good thing too, with the BE90 bypass and the sdf 26 full flow an oil change is 14 qts. $$$$$$$$$$
I just got the tranny and rear gear fluid. The autoparts said my tranny has two filters, the normal flat and this little spin-on unit. I can't find the spin on..is it inside the pan?

If you go to the AMSOIL site and plug in your vehicle info, it will give you everything from capacities, oil requirements, wiper blades, and anything else oil or filter related related. Just did it for my Jeep yesterday. I run the dual remote system on the truck and run the oil 25000 miles and am switching the new Jeep over this weekend or next. I am a dealer so I get a better price but you can get the same prices by becoming a preferred customer, you just can't sell the product.
