I just bought an 08 Quad Laramie and would love to have the remote start. Can the OEM remote start be added? I have done a search and have yet to find any one who has added the OEM system.

I know a good friend of mine installed his own, I can't remember the brand name. Its not an easy job with the extra modules for the Sentry Key and Security system as well as the CANBUS communications with the ECM. But it can be done.

I have one. I like it. It comes with pretty good instructions. There are cheaper units out there though.

When I ordered my truck last year, I was told by Dodge that I couldn't get a Diesel with a remote start. I had the service manager look into it and he found out that it would. So the dealer ordered the OEM remote start when they ordered my truck and had it installed when I picked up my truck. Approx. $200+ in parts and $100+ in labor. Since the remote start came with two keys, the dealer reprogramed the orginal two keys for me at no charge.

One advantage to an OEM remote start, there's on one else the dealer can blame if it causes electrical problems.

Is there a specific reason you want an OEM remote start? I believe the OEM starter is made by Code Alarm. They make pretty good stuff but for the price you can have a better one installed with WAY better range and more options for less or at least the same money, just an idea.
