Can factory installed Sirius be used with an aftermarket deck??
I realize the connectors wont mate up but is there anyone out there that has made this work? Is it as simple as getting a plug for the new deck and cutting and splicing wires or is there a lot more to it? I am looking for full functionality and text display. I did notice there is a different amount of pins on the new and old deck for hookup. In case anyone is wondering why go through the trouble? because I believe the previous owner has a lifetime subscription to Sirius on the current equipment in my truck.

I would assume so. You probably will need to get and an adapter to work with your new head unit. Before you remove your OEM Radio I would retrieve the 12 digit Sirus' receiver # from the radio display (check your owners manual on how to do this), so you can call Sirus to transfer the receiver # to the adapter or new head unit. I think you would also need your truck's vin nuber too.
I am sure those that do have SAT radio or have had it for a long time would have more information on this.

thanks, but I'd like to use the factory sattelite tuner and antenna and somehow hook that up to my Pioneer deck which obviously doesn't accept the factory style plug coming from the sattelite tuner so there would be no calling Sirius to exchange the subscription to new equipment.
Anyone, there has to be some electrical geniuses here.
