Here is mine, sold now but worked great for me and the service is second to none.

I had an ARE on my old 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. It was built like a rock and was about $1,200. When I sold it, it still looked new. Great cap, I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

I then had a Leer on my Dakota. It was very, very fancy.......and very, very expensive. I paid $1800 for it.

I now have a Swiss on my '04, which I bought used for $500. It is a nice and very simple cap.

I got a standard canopy made by Raider, nothing fancy. similar to D45's. Looked good on my truck until I put my big ugly boat rack on it, looks kinda industrial now.

T-boe's is sharp looking, I just don't trust the way the side windows are held on, especially when 4x4ing, prone to leaks I hear? Also those 1 piece safety glass rear doors are mega expensive if you ever need to replace one.

A piece of advice is to get one with a front fold down window, the whole thing flips down so you can wash the windows in between the canopy and the cab.

What did that cost you to get that boat rack made?

I paid $900 to get the rack made by a guy I know who's in the aluminum railing business. It's good and strong, made of an alloy, I carry another boat like mine ontop of the one in the picture too, except a 12 footer, mines a 14.
The actual loader I had on my old truck, they're close to $2000 new, I got mine used for $600.

Mine is a Western Fibre Craft, made in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is a full 48" from floor to bottom of door opening.

BTW, we call them a truck cap here in Manitoba

Just got an ARE shell and made a modular deal to sleep on top of and store stuff underneath. The center 48" removes to load my quad.

I have a Leer 100 XL,it looks alot like ******* Waggons, but has sliding side 3/4 windows with screens and a front slider as well and a Thule track rack.Beware if you live in a rainy climate the side sliders leak and water also comes in the around the two upper corners of the tail gate,I am not the only one to complain about the side windows leaking,on here.My dealer had one window out twice trying to fix it,it leaks worse than it originally did, they are sealed to the canopy with foam tape.Perhaps some clear silocon around them would help. They do make the with side windows that open out, perhaps they would have been better. But considering it supposed to be top of the line and cost $3200 CND bucks I am less than impressed. They look real nice and I have slept in mine on top of a 4x8 sheet of OSB so I floatwhen it rains.

I've also had leakage problems on the side slider of my Leer. I have not had leaks on the other side though. I have workman's door (also know as windoor) there. I really like the ability to pull stuff out the side window.

About the front window - towards the cab. I got a removeable one so I could clean the window of the truck and the outside of the removeable window. I never do this. The car wash cleans it just fine. Don't waste your money.

The Leer top is not as rugged as other caps but it's lighter weight. Take that into account. Mounting a roof rack on a Leer gave my friend problems.

If I had to do it over again, I'd buy a commercial cap w/ more vertical sides for increased storage and sitting up straighter when I'm sleeping back there. (Actually my next plan is to replace the bed w/ a short flatbed and build an Aluminum box on the back.)

Everyone's needs are different. Hope this helps.

I too have the Leer 100XQ. It's a great looking topper and I've had no problems to date with leaks or anything. The only drawbacks are: 1) windows twist open about two inches at the back which probably provides less airflow than the sliding type (important if you have dogs) and 2) if you live in a cold climate and wash your truck, the single flush mounted back window release, while it looks good, can freeze. No big deal as long as you remember to take along a towel to dry off the latch after washing. Oh ya...3) it's friggin' heavy! They are also bit pricey, but **** they do look good...here's mine in silver:

On my 2001 it was a cab-high model and didn't change my mileage at all.

However, if you've ever driven across South Dakota you know there is some good wind to catch. So, while driving the "barn on wheels" if I had a good wind directly behind me, I gained about 0.5 mpg!

Have a good one.

ps. My new topper will be here in 3 weeks!

I also have the 100XQ Leer canopy, though I have a short box. They are a little pricey, but I have never had one leak. Also you can get all sorts of upgrades as well. I had them hook up to my keyless entry/alarm, and the slider pops out for easy cleaning between the canopy and the truck.

OOPS! Forgot the pics.
