In cab storage options
What do people here do for organizing all the junk that typically rides around in a truck cab: jupper cables, tow strap, rachet straps, tools, first aid kit, etc, etc. I was thinking of removing the rear seat and installing one of those cab organizers for regular cab trucks. I'm not going with one of the bed tool boxes because I need all the space back there I can get. Any ideas on this

The space below the foldout trays is enough for me. Between that and the lower storage area in the front mid-section, I keep a small tool kit, first aid kit, baby wipes, ratcheting tie-down straps, inverter, and plenty of other junk. Maybe your needs are greater than mine tho.

Thanks for the replys, unfortunately I do not have the fold out tray(s) in the back, just that recessed area under the rear seat. Is the fold out tray(s) part of the rear seat assembly, I have little use for the rear seat but would really like any sort of the storage gizmo (especially if it's a factory part). I'm sure I could retro fit them, I'll have to do some research.

I have a rubber made container bungy corded to the front corner in the bed with tow straps, jumper cables, flares, etc... inside. When I am parked someplace where I think someone would be interested in the contents, or need room in the bed, then I lift it out of the bed and put it in the backseat, otherwise it rides around back there. The bungy keeps it from sliding around and it has a locking lid and is water tight. I haven't had a problem in over a year but I do live in a "safe" city.
Maybe you should have bought a long bed

I thought I'd throw this in, just in case you didn't know about this.
Under the center arm rest in the front seat, look close under that arm rest and you'll see another latch made of plastic. Lift up on it and you'll find another storage compartment! It's actually carved out of the bottom in the center of the front seat.
Now it's not enough room to store everything but you could certainly keep your tow strap and some other odds and ends in there.
Hope this helps.

If you really need space then get yourself a Fold-A-Cover for the bed. It's lockable and then you have the biggest trunk available in any class auto
I may have the short bed but I've got one whale of a trunk

im eyeing up the area under the rear seat. not the cargo tubs but the small space that istunder the back rest and still there for the most part when the bottom cushion is put back into normal seating position.

Ramtough, that area under the rear back rests works well, I even squeezed a bottle jack , jumper cables and bungee cords under there, and there is still room left for other items.

I stuck a low profile aluminum diamond plate chest in the box. More than enough room for essentials, and no worries about unwanted stuff flying around in the cab if you wreck. Can't do without it. Several manufacturers out there. Mine was $300 delivered. As far as the folding load floor, I got mine from a guy who was installing subwoofers in the space under the back seat. This is an $88 option on the truck, but when I went to the parts department, I had them stop adding up parts @ $1000.
Luck!
