a/c freezing up/stops blowing hard, how to fix?
i noticed that my air condition stops blowing like it should after about an hour of use. i have to turn the heater on for a few mins then i can turn it back on and its fine for a while. i thinks is freezing up. has this happened to you before, and how should i go about fixing this problem? its too hot in texas to be running the heater in july! thanks

There is a TSB for this issue on the 03'-early 04' models. It is the fin temp relocation TSB. The fin temp sensor is not at the coldest part of the evaporater causing the compressor to run to long and freeze up part of the evap. They are basicaly relocating the fin temp sensor. Bad part is the dash has got to come out to do it.

A/C freezing is a indication of low freon.

Frost forming on A/C lines or any where is an indication of a restriction..not low R134a....if you have low R134a your compressor would not work at all because the low pressure switch would not allow the compressor to run because it may do damage to the pump/compressor.
sounds like the real problem is what "spooler" said tho

First thing to check is the A/C line pressures. Low freon will cause evaporator freezing, but the pressure isn't low enough to trip the low pressure cutoff switch.
If it's the location of the fin temp sensor he would be having this issue long before now.

well i have only had this truck for about a year and i did notice it at the end of last summer but it never did it again till now. but i also havent been driving long distances with the a/c working pretty hard since last summer. i know a guy that does a/c stuff and ill have him check the freon. the TSB fin temp sensor is that a warranty thing or recall?

Check out this thread. You sound like you had similiar problems as Rob in this thread. You will find a lot of good info and links to help you in your problems. You may also want to check the electrical connections under the dash near the cab climate control ****.
