A/C Compressor fix
I know its here somewhere .... there's a fix for the compressor not turning on and using arelay to bypass the TIPM. I just can't seem to find it... Does anyone know the process or haves a link to th's repair? ? Mine went out over the summer, but I didn't rush fixin it cuz the weather was much cooler .. however since it is now getting to 85 degrees in MARCH .... I'm needing some A/C...
Any help would sure be appreciated ...

Well I installed the relay switch to the compressor. Check the pressure on the low side and it was within range. I don't know the exact numbers but it was not high not low. And the compressor clutch still will not kick in. Any ideas?

Sounds to me as you might just have a bad AC cluth magnet,,,there is a guy selling the whole thing plus the bearing for about 100 I think, I replaced my neighbors its very easy, and about an hour and a half, no need to disconect the compressor, just remove 2 of the 4 bplts holding the comp, and tilt it down to remove the whole clutch *** with fender linner removed its a piece of cake, the AC clutches on theses trucks are junk, on my truck I ran a cut out swith so it wont cycle every 10 minutes in the winter time to reduce the amont of heat that burns out the coil and burs the contact face of the pulley, you can just spent the 25 or 30 dollars on just the coil, but after takeing his apart the bearing was toast also, so might as well do it right the first time.

Wow! Thanks for that info.. I would definitely like to find whoever it us that is rebuilding them it selling them. That's a LOT better alternative than replacing a compressor. And a lot less money!!!

Mr Jerry located the link on Ebay. I;m not sure if i can post it here, so if anyone needs it, PM me and i'll forward it to ya. this is for a replacement clutch magnet and bearing and pigtail. it just plugs right into the old one (hopefully). When i get mine, and get it installed- i'll let you know how it works.

I am just now finished. I replaced all of the parts and I'll have some pictures tomorrow but it still did not work. At least my compressor is now working, but I still do not have any cold air. I am going to have the freon check tomorrow. The clutch was completely 8 up and dry and gouged on both sides of the clutch...

The change out was actually pretty simple to do. I ended up taking off four bolts out of the compressor so that I could tilt the entire unit down in order to get to everything easier. I only needed to loosen th's bolts some in order to remove th's pulley. But in order to get the base of the new unit back on, I had to tilt the whole compressor downwards at about a 45° angle. After that part was installed, everything went together easily. I must have some other problem that I'll have to get looked at later this week. I still don't have cold sir... but at least all of the parts are spinning.

Tools I needed. A 10mm ratchet wrench came in handy, 10mm socket on 1/4 & 3/8 drive, 8mm socket, and 13mm socket. Phillip's screwdriver .... Oh, and I only needed 1 shim for the bolt. And some BLUE loctite.

Sweet, glad it worked out, pretty sweet for a hundred dollars, I just bought one and put it on my shelf, because it will be needed some day, after looking at a couple of those clutches I put a switch on mine so it wont cycle on and off in the winter when its not needed, but turn it on and of now and then to cycle it a couple times.
