first go to the dealer and test drive one,but be prepared to come home with it when you do. You be that impressed. maintenence is pretty easy and straight forward. 3 gallon of oil, get under truck, ect ect... but if you dont work it the cummins goes 15,000 in between oil changes. most change theres around 7500- 10000 though. much cleaner and more efficient. The best dealer that I know of near close to johnstown that has good prices is tri star in connelsville. the may be better ones closer but thats the closest that I know of that gives great deals. You wont be dissapointed with a new ram in fact with the luck you and 99% of all the ford owners that have had with there trucks, when they made the switch from ferd to dodge they will never go back. The dodge is that good. That trans if much better than the past. but when all 3 brands started putting these torque monster diesels in front of there autos they all had the same issues. Dodge has just been doing it longer and the new 48re is a great trans and should never give you a issue.

I was sold 5 minutes after I started my test drive. I've had mine a month now and LOVE it. Like everyone else, I wonder why I never had one before and start to get withdrawls if'n i havent driven it at least once a day (I work from home about half the week).
You'll love it. Post pics when you get it.

Ok, I don't know if this helps you, but I too was in the same spot you where 2 months ago. I had a 2003 Ford F350 with the 6.0L that was bought back by ford. It spent 95+ days in the show, with 18 repair orders. It only had 38,000 miles on it when I gave it to ford. My replacement was a 2005 Ford F350 with the 6.0L. This truck had a oil leak that required the engine to be pulled out, and kept blowing the turbo hose off. I drove from Kansas City KS, to Louisville KY with that hose blowing off every 50 or so miles. I used 10ga. wire to try to hold the two together.
That monday, I test drove a Dodge 3500 Dually with the Cummins engine. Tuesday, I took the ford in for repair. Wednesday, Ford replaced the hose yet again and said nothing was wrong. When I ask why it kept blowing off, they didn't know. I drove off the ford lot straight to the dodge lot to talk about trade in value. Thursday, the called with the right price and I drove home the dodge.
I am done with Ford diesels for a good long time. I have 6000 miles on my new truck and I am very happy with it. I pull a 36ft, 13,000 to 15000lbs (depend on loading) fifth wheel camper. I pulled my trailer from Louisville, ky to Athens GA and back. I found the engine does very well if not better than the Ford. I don't like the Dodge Trans. shift points, but I can live with it. The Trans. also shifts alot harder than the Ford ever did. Dealer say that is normal with that kind of weight.
Yes, they all have problems, but so far the Dodge has stood up to the challenge. I hope to but a great deal of miles on this truck without many problems. At this point, I won't go back.
As far as maint. I don't really know yet. But, everything is in sight and easy to reach unlike the ford. I expect the maint. costs to greatly drop as compared to the Ford.
Good luck with what you deside. Anthony

There's a Dodge dealership called Forrer Dodge. I believe it's in Duccannon. It's about 45 minute drive for you but they have what I believe is the best price and service. Check them out if you like, just letting you know about a good dealership.
