After a 7 hour drive from Roswell, NM (where I was working) up to Colorado Springs, I just took delivery of my 2006 CTD. It is exactly as the pictures show, not a scratch on it. The inside of the receiver hitch is untouched, so it's possible this truck has never towed anything. The bed has a spray in liner, so it is clean as well. As soon as I finish eating I'll be starting the 760 mile treck back to Phoenix. Anybody have a couch I can surf in Durango tonight instead of a hotel?

It was owned by an older couple with 4 other cars, no fifth wheel hitch or brake controller box, so it should be mint. It is as I would order it minus power pedals if I had my choice of 2008 trucks. The color in the pics is washed out, but it is flame red. I'm very pleased. I'll get to introduce myself with a 760 mile drive back to Phoenix
nice truck and good move getting the 06 instead of an 08.

New truck

Congrat's on the new ride!! You'll love pulling with it, I know I smile every time I pull my 5th wheel.

As for old school interior, sign me up!! It took me MONTH'S to find one, but was quicker than the repeatedly delayed order thru Dave Smith. I have an ST optioned EXACTLY the way I wanted. No power windows or locks, cloth seats, 6spd, manual T-case lever, and vinyl floor. The way I think a truck should be. Granted, the wife drives her Touareg, so when I feel like leather with all the trimmings, I drive it and she drives my truck. Of course, sometimes she just wants to drive my truck!!!

My trip home from Colorado Springs to Phoenix was on the long side, but 760 miles is 760 miles. I left after my last posting (during dinner after purchasing the truck). I drove from CO springs down I-25 to SR-160, through Durango, Cortez, across the Navajo reservation through Kayenta and Tuba City, to SR-89 to Flagstaff, then down I-17 to Phoenix. I had planned on getting a hotel in Durango for the night, but they were all full. I drove on to Cortez, where the hotels were available but $85 for a crappy super 8. At 2am just past Cortez the battery in my Ipod died, so I pulled into a truck stop and slept in the cab. At 6'5", sleeping across the 40/20/40 seats in a regular cab pickup is not the most comfortable thing in the world. If I had a pillow and blanket it would've been better. At 40 degrees I had to fire up the truck every hour or so to heat up the cab. I woke up at 6am and hit the road again. Unfortunately I left a drool mark on the drivers seat. I was in Flagstaff by 9:00 am and stayed there for the day visiting friends.

Driving this truck is great. I only went full throttle three times, two were passing people on 2 lane roads, the other was screwing around on a dirt road in Flagstaff. The first two times the truck rocketed from 60 mph to 80+ mph quickly. The third time resulted in hanging out the *** end in a 100' power slide. It is a bit bumpy on rough pavement, but that was expected and some Bilstein shocks should help. The seats were reasonably comfortable for the duration of the drive, I will probably put 1" of foam in there.

I stopped for fuel in Bayfield, speeds had generally been 75 mph on interstate, 68 on country roads. Hand calc mileage was 15.9 mpg, overhead showed 17.2 mpg. I'm not sure how the dealership filled or topped off before delivery, so the mpg might be inaccurate. My second fuel stop was in Flagstaff, speeds had been 69 mph on country roads. Hand calc mileage was 18.6 mpg, overhead showed 17.6 mpg. My last fuel stop was at home in Phoenix, speeds had been 79 on interstate. Hand calc mileage was 19.3 mpg, overhead showed 17.8 mpg. My total costs (including rental car from ABQ and food) for going to get the truck was less than $400.

Now to decide on which mods to do... I already have a stereo from my old truck (Alpine HU, XM, JL amps, Boston components, JL woofers) and two 62 ft^2 rolls of RAAMmat BXT sound deadening. I'm definately doing some Bilsteins, the only question is are the HD shocks ok, or do I do a leveling kit and run the 5100 shocks. I'm really looking at the EMS hub conversion and possibly a Smarty Jr.

I can actually do a sig line now

Mitch
