Thanks for the write up. I just got mine today. I'm not sure if i'm going to paint mine yet. I will have to hold them up to my truck to see if I like or not. Any one left the pocket style black on an atlantic blue truck? Jeff

Hey Shane,
Great job Bro on the D.I.Y.!!!! I bet you saved a bunch of greenbacks and they look as good if not better, and no waiting, well, except for drying. I followed you over here from the other thread about the toppers (that's truck caps for all the newbies, only because I didn't know them by that name either at first) because I wanted to see a homebrew paint job on the flares.
Let me guess, the tracks in the snow were made after you placed the flare on the ground? If so, that's incredible, if not, ya had me fooled.
The whole thing sounds simple enough, and feasible for me. Especially with constant warm weather around the corner. I re-painted the brackets on the boss bars because they were a little dinged up during shipping, but I just sprayed over them, no sanding. Hope you don't mind but I wanted to add to all of your excellent tips. I recommend using the spray paint can trigger attachment. They sell it at HD & Lowes, heck, everywhere they sell paint just about. One can isn't a big deal on your finger but six is a different story. Plus it gives you more control overall. Just FYI.
I thought I might keep my pocket flares black when I got them because all the other trim is black (door handles, body moulding, mirrors, etc) but now, I might just try a two tone silver and blue to match the truck. All silver on a two tone blue/silver looks like....well, a Ferd. And if I don't like it, I can go back to black easy enough.
Thanks again Bro.

That's a great price, I checked them today and with the current sale they
are $404. with free shipping. I hope adding them makes a difference for that
price. I know my Patriot Blue was Haze Gray most of this past winter and my
XAT's barely stick out past the top of the wheel well. I do intend to add mud
flaps too somehow.
