Brake pedal side to side play

Does anyone elses do this? The pedal itself works fine, it just easily moves side to side. Looking at the pedal itself the black pedal arm is mounted to a silver looking piston and it all moves together to engage the brakes. The black arm itself swings on the piston. Wondering if this is a sign of it about to fall off or something.

Mine does it too! My pedal is one that can be adjusted in and out. There is a plastic sleeve on the shaft that has broken and now instead of having a tight fit on the shaft that guides the pedal assembly it's loose and has side to side play.

When it first happened to me Dodge told me they could repair it, but they didn't have an appointment that day and it was a few months before I had the time to bring it back. At which time, at a different dealer closer to home, I was told they didn't have the availability of that part and the entire pedal assembly had to be replaced at a much higher cost point.

So I told them, since it was an annoyance and not a danger, what they could do with the entire pedal assembly! Well over 100,000 with a wiggly pedal and no problems...

I found this part number for a bushing repair kit, 68079239AA, that supposedly includes instructions. I have also read that you can adjust the pedals up a bit, for the electrically adjustable ones, and the play will go away. I tried that first and the play was still there but greatly minimized. They want $65 for the bushing kit so I will just live with it.

I can't seem to be able to pull up reliable info on that part#... can you post a link to what you found?

I found http://www.dodgepartscenter.com/part...&siteid=217030 but I don't have any diagrams to make sure that is the same thing you're looking at nor does it have any suggestion of an instruction booklet.

Any help would be appreciated.
