Bracket needed for 3rd gen, to stop Chicago racket....

I crushed my front license plate bracket several years ago, and I haven't had a plate on the front since.

I drove my truck to O'Hare airport the other day and parked - something I haven't done in years. The cops seem to have nothing better to do than look for non-moving violations while people are out of town, so I had a $50 ticket waiting for me upon arrival. No front plate.

Does anyone who lives in a free state have one they'd be willing to sell me? I have an '05 with a chrome bumper, non-sport.

I figure somebody has to have one they don't need, in a state where you don't need the front plate.

Any takers?

Wow. I would have thought a lot of guys removed their front plate and had the bracket laying around. Guess I'm the only one. I'm gonna hate spending $30 on this one....

I would be happy with the 50.00 ticket, the minimum ticket here in Washington is 112.00.

Did you back into the stall?

At the airport I used to work at they had a truck going around 24/7 recording plate numbers. This lets them know how long a vehicle has been in the lot(ie abandoned) or if its stolen or it a certain individual has left the country.

If you backed into the stall then he would have had to get out of his comfy AC vehicle and actually walk! This would have inspired him to write you a ticket.

No bracket here. Just used a couple bolts and nuts and stuck the plate directly on the chrome bumper through the square holes.

I hadn't thought of it that way. I always thought it best to try to hide the front so they couldn't see if it had a plate. I went so far this week, as to pull into a plant so they'd have to move a shrub to see if it had a plate.

I ordered one from eBay. $31. So the grand total is $81. I don't like learning lessons that way. LOL

That's how it is now while I wait for the mount. The problem is the car wash. I don't want the spinning brushes to do damage with it. I also don't want to scratch the chrome finish and have rust start in another spot too.

Whoa whoa whoa let me get this straight. Your truck fits in the automatic car washes?

Yeah, it is metal on metal there. I don't worry too much about bumpers. They get replaced or the truck stays in the family a very long time. I guess it helps we live in the south and we don't have winter road maintenance beating the tar out of a metal weak spot.

Glad you got your bracket ordered!
