Blower Motor
Hey guys been a while since I posted and I have question about my blower motor. This morning going to work I noticed on hi I was getting a loud vibrating noise coming from under glove box and didnt know what it was. So today at work I searched and found a whole lot of stuff pertaining to the blower motor and the different doors/flappers. After I got off tonight I took off blower motor and a small piece was inside the housing like it had broke off and the flapper is lose and covering the opening. So my question is--1) How do I get the flapper out and 2} is it bad that it is not there? All the other selections for heat/air distrubution work so im wondering how critical this piece is.
Thanks
JIM

I have exactly the same hum/vibration in my blower motor. Started yesterday morning. I am able to get good heat and can switch to defroster. What is causing the hum/vibration.
Were you able to pull the blower motor easily to see inside ?

You both more than likely have broken Recirculation doors or Recir doors. You can remove it with no issues just my reaching up in and taking it out via the blower motor opening. You will want to have it replaced by summer time though.

If I pull the blower motor and remove the possible broken recir door, what will be the effect this winter. Presently, I can go from defroster to heat on dash and floor. What effect will I see next summer with the door removed ? I have no space in the shop right now to pull the dash apart to repair it properly. I woudl like to delay till warm weather....if possible
Thank You

The door above the fan either blocks the air intake in the cab and opens the air intake from the cowl vent, or blocks the intake from the cowl vent and opens the air intake inside the cab, depending on if the control is set to recurculate or fresh air.
If a person were to remove the door, both the cowl intake, and the in-cab intake would be open all the time, so the fan would draw a mix of air from outside and from in the cab.

I have the blower motor off and can reach up and grab the door but by no means can I pull it through the opening.....it is too big to go through the hole.
As far as fixing what are we looking at and is it REALLY needed
Thanks Again

See this thread...

I believe there is an updated recirculation housing, which shouldn't have that problem (shouldn't have had that problem to begin with).
Anyway, if the recirc door was broken or flapping around in there, I'd be tempted to tape it in the fresh air position, or get it out and pull the glove box out and duct tape the recirc intake... and only fix it if I had another reason to pull the whole dash.
I hardly ever put it on recirculate anyway, and with my luck if I pulled the dash, evacuated the AC system and did all that, a few months after the fix another door would break...

stand the "door" up vertical, it will fit thru the opening.

Im not sure if the door will stand up to come out.....the space is very tight and I dont want to man handle and break something else.
I did see the other thread yesterday looks like a real pain to fix this

First my Congratulations to Chrysler for the wonderful design on these door thingies. Especially cute to work up in there when you wear glasses LOL.
I went to pull my blower motor, 2 of the 3 Torx head screws were loose. Only the Screw with the cable retainer was tight. I removed the motor, everything was good. No broken or flapping door. I put the blower back in this time with all 3 screws tight. No more hum or vibration. All is at Stable 1........for now LOL. Obviously, the looe motor was causing the vibration/deep hum.
Thanks guys for the most helpful tips.
