Biggest Tires that Fit Stock Height QC. Reasonably?

Ok, I am sure that this topic has probably been beat to death on some other thread, but for some reason I think that the forum search engine hates me and I can not find the info that I am needing, (cant we get a google version of the search engine?...just a thought) I just bought the truck that is in my sig. I am wanting to upgrade tires ASAP I plan to go with a tire with a good load rating, but that offers a bit more agressive tread pattern than say...the factory tire. My main question is, just how far can you push the overall height/width of the tire on the stock 17" wheels before there is a rubbing issue. I definitely want to fill up the fender wells a bit more but do not want to do any kind of lifting or leveling. If you would like, post a pic of your setup with an "oversize" tire feel free, it will help out that much more. And If you can point me to a good thread where this has already been addressed IN DETAIL then thanks in advance!

Toyo open country AT. 285/75/17 load E. Roughly 34" x 11.5". No Rubbing.

I believe a 305/70/17 will fit nice, I think they're closer to 33.5" x 12.5" dont know if they rub or not

Great, thanks for the quick response! I was hoping to at least get 33/34ish under there but was hoping for 35's. Seems like alot of people on here praise the Nitto tires.

havnt tried them. I like that they have alot of sizes to choose from. You can run 35 12.50s on the stock wheels but they'll rub a little at full steering.

State, how did you squeeze 16" tires onto your rims and what is the benefit?

Yeah, are you sure those are 16's? 03 and up need 17's because of the calipers and rotors...

I have 35's on mine, and they rub at full lock a little.

I had 305 70 17's in a mud terrain, and I loved them, and they fit perfect.

Dodgezilla, looks like you still have a bit of room to work with there still yet, how many miles you get out of the BFG's? my buddy ran them on a gas HD chevy and swears by them. How much wider can you get away with over the stock tire size on the stock wheel anyone know?

I'm running a Goodyear Wrangler/Silent Armor "Pro Grade" in a 285/70/17. Quiet, a little stiff due to kevlar sidewalls, but good overall. With just about 10k miles running at near recommended psi, seem to be wearing pretty evenly and no rub or clearance issues at all. Me thinks they're just shy of a full 33" tire....Actually 11.5 x 32.8

pics are here

I ran 315/70-17s on my 03 and they worked great except that at full lock I would get a bit of rub on the control arm. I'd guess that 305s or 295s would be the max before you would get any rub.
For me, I just don't want big tires anymore but I do like the look of the 285/70s better than the stockers. I've gotten about 50,000 miles out of a set of BFGs in the past but honestly I usually don't keep a truck long enough to find out....

I'm considering the Toyo 35/12.50R17's (MT's).

http://tirecrawler.com/shop/detail_t...product_id=920

I think they could rub just a bit on the control arm at full lock but I don't think it'll be enough to bother me much.

The truck suspension is all stock but I'll probably get a lift kit within the next year.

Is anyone running the Toyo Open Country M/T? I am considering getting these but wanted to know how loud they are running down the road.
Thanks

My h2 wheels with 315 BFG AT's had minor rubbing at full lock before 2" leveling spacer added (easy). Don't notice any rubbing now.
