BIGGER tires/odometer????

I'm about to buy some 35's for my 06 dodge 2500.

****Do I need to buy a programmer to account for the added tire size?****

Basically... are the 35's going to add miles to my truck faster?

Which GOOD programmers offer the program to do that?

And what size of BFG's are these??? Its off the lorenz site and in last months 8lug magazine.

Sorry if I posted a pic of someones ride on here w/out permission.

I realize there are like 50 different questions on here but I'm to effing lazy to split them up. kind of a 2 birds with one stone thing going on here.

Those might be 315/70/17s. They will add miles to your truck SLOWER than stock tires. In other words, you will show fewer miles travelled on the same trip. You can go to the dealer and get them to reset your "pinion factor" or get a Smarty and do it yourself.

Your odometer will read less miles than you actually traveled. Your speedo will read less mph than you are actually travelling. The Y2006 cannot be corrected completely without a programer.

At least you don't have an '07, the smart guys a Chrysler engineering made it so there are a couple of preset sizes in the computer. You can not program revs per mile anymore!! So my truck is off now with my 285/75's.

My truck is off with the 35's, but I am not going to worry about it.. I am too cheap to pay my dealer to do it, and I don't have the $$ for a smarty.

Mopeman,
I was able to program for the same tire you have using the Smarty. Believe it or not that is all I've used it for. I'm thinking about trying it out now though...
By the way. In town mileage dumped with calibrated speedo. Highway LOOONG drive got 21.2 with an avg. of 18.1 over 7400 miles with the bigger tires.

That's what I figured, I don't know anybody with a programmer, and don't have the $$$ for one right now. At least the mileage is closer with the computer programmed with the 285/70 size. I was just a hair over 5mph off on the highway.

don't program it. your warranty will last longer! lol. I have a calculator I will post when I get Home. I got it from a guy on the tdr. you have to have excel to use it and can change tire size, gears ect and see how far off you are. it even has ALL of the transmissions for the dodges pre 6.7L
