nearly 50K miles on my H2's with 315/70/17's. Never rubbed, not once, and that includes a fair amount of off-roading too. As I understand the offset of the H2's is different than that of the stock wheels, which is why this combo can be run without a leveling kit (and thereby minimizing chances of the death wobble, IMHO), without rubbing.

I understand larger tires will raise the gear ratio, how much difference would I notice pulling an 8K camper in the mountains if I went from stock to say 315's

I pull about 7K over Vail pass every year when I go to Moab and I really didn't notice to much difference when I went to 315's. Milage on that trip is from 12-15 depending on speed.

I have a couple different stingers that I use. The one for the car hauler is about a 4 inch drop, but that trailer has an adjustable tongue and its almost all the way up. On the snowmobile trailer I use a 6 inch drop, which is the same one I use for the boat.

My aftermarket alloys had the right backspacing to run 315 BFGs w/o any other mods, but I have been really happy with the 37" Toyos I recently installed w/o a lift; I did some very minor trimming of the front fenderwell liners and now get over 19 mpg on the interstate.
