Bigger tires
#6
You realize bigger (wider) tires will shoot your economy to heck, right? My '02 went from 19.5 hwy to 16.5 hwy when it was completely stock when I went from 235's to 285's. Just food for thought since no one mentioned it. And that is hand calculated, not overhead readout.

I know you can have a tech at the dealer recalibrate the speedo but how do they do it. I'm looking to get the 295/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers and wanna make sure I ask the right questions!!

They hook their little electronic box into the ODBII port or what ever it is called and reset the tire diameter, or circumference depending on your truck year. They tried to charge me $75 for one hour of labor and I talked them down to half that becuase I argued that it only takes about 5 minutes of time and that to charge me for 1 hour was wrong. I paid them $37.50. Or, if you have an Edge Attitude module, you can just change the tire circumference in your edge box and read "true speed" on the attitude display...it doesn't change your factory speedo, just the attitude display.

The Hummer 35 are the 315/70-17 that have been referenced. The H2 wheels need the centers bored out to fit...other than that they bolt right up. They should work with no rubbing...with or without a leveling kit.

I had 325/70-17 Toyos on H2s with no lift for a while. The corners of the plastic chin spoiler under the bumper needed to be trimmed, and there was ever so slight of a rub on the rear of the plastic inner fender when the wheels were turned just right while going over large bumps. Neither are issues I worried about.
