I had 285/70/17 Muds put on my truck and now have a lot of vibration and pull. Has anyone else had a hard time getting this tires to run smooth? Or did I get some bad tires?

I've got 285's on my '98. Especially with deep lugs like the MT's you installed, you're going to have vibration. The 285's also have a much wider tread than the OE tires, so they're going to pull.
To make a long story short, your experience is normal with these tires. To get a ride like the OE tires, you'll have to put the crap OE tires back on.

eaborg,
I notice a little more "feedback" from my 315's too. Make sure the two front tires have exactly the same pressure. I'm considering a beefier steering damper.

I run 285 BFG MT's, there is a bit of vibration but I have not noticed any pull that my stock tires did not have. Unless you are talking about them pulling a big truck throuhg the mud.

I had 35 bfg mt on last truck never pulled and only minimal noise and vibration compared to all terrains. Make sure the balance weights are on the front and back of rim.

Make sure they are balanced correctly...lug or hub centric to match exactly how you rims are mounted. I do not know how factory aluminum rims are...but have heard some metntion they are hub centric. The factory steel are lug centric. Rotate your wheels front to back also to see if you have a tire pull. I played aroung with my 35's a little and got a smoot even non pulling ride.

MUD TIRES ARE MUD TIRES! NOT STREET TIRES. HAVE THEM BALANCED BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, THIS IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE MADE. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO SEE THE TIRE WEIGHTS ON THEIR 1-2000 DOLLAR SET OF CHROME WHEELS SURFACE. IF YOU WANT A NICE PLUSH RIDE GET THE AT'S OR SOME FREEGIN' 18-20'S W/ NITTO GRABHER'S OR GROPERS OR WHATEVER THE HE77 THEY CALL THEM TIRES ON EVERY OTHER PAGE OF FOURWHEELER MAG.............

EABORG, THOSE TIRES LOOK GREAT!!!!
by the way if you think they ride bad, put some 39.5" bias ply swampers on. you will then love your bfg RADIAL mud terrains.
