Beat by a Duramax!

Last night I got beat by a Duramax from 0 till about 40 mph. We were on a city street so when he started pulling me, I backed off. I wish Edge would get the Attitude out!

Not to worry. Stock for stock, the numbers just don't add up. Your putting out more HP and TQ than the MAX. Even if you had a nasty tank of fuel, the MAX still wouldn't have "pulled away" from you unless the other fellow had some power upgrades.

I beat one about a month ago. Luckly I was already in 4th gear when he came up beside me and I dropped the hammer, he stayed with me until 5th gear and then I pulled away. He tried staying with me up to 90mph then finally backed off.
The Dmax is tough to beat from a standing start.

Arrange a race when his odometer is in the 60K to 80K mile range. His 2nd head gasket set should be installed by then.

Even if the Dmax has less power, short allison gears and a high reving engine help to pull it off the line pretty quick. None the less, the dmax has nothing against the outright tourqe of the cummins. Mine felt strong when i got it, but not very confident to race anyone. I did a few minor mods such as sliding my plate forward and cranking up the boost, now its like twice as much pull when you step on it. Very confident feeling now with little modifications. The cummins responds very well to mods, so will the dmax, but the cummins wont scatter after you really pound it

I don't think he was Chipped, he didn't pull me that hard. His truck was SRW with no canopy. Of course the Ghost Rider is DRW, has a canopy, a 60 gallon fuel tank/tool box in the bed. I had about 65 gallons on board and misc tools and emergency things in the tool box. I suppose I was about 1,000#'s heavier that the Duramax.

Today I just put on the 51" Nelson muffler. The throttle response and power is much better all the way through the rpm range. It seem to be quite spunky!

Tell you what...find a Duramin or Powerjoke willing to hook up and do the old hill billy pull test. Then after you drag them around for a bit, you don't feel so bad when they pull away for the 4-5 seconds until your Cummins spools up. There will be no competition, I would wager title to title. I've pulled both, one dually Chevy and a 350 Ford all w/ chips and my Ram w/ only the BD X-intake, they just don't have the low torq and the weight behind em'. ...... and NO, that doesn't mean I'm a hill billy either.... I'm from Texas.... that would mean I'm a read neck! Wait, thats probably not much better

I Pulled away from a Duramax yesterday...
Approx 9% grade came up behing him at about 50 KMh.
He hit the throttle before I did. I was about 300 yards ahead after a 2 mile hill. He rode my a__ for about 5 km after and blew by me on the flat. I had proved my point. Both trucks empty.
My rig 2004.5 cummins 600 quad 4x4 SLT 48RE. 2000km on the clock.
