Ball Joints
O.K. after reading some other posts I decided to check mine. Top ones loose. 26k on the clock. I have pushed some snow so I know that took some life away. But #### 26k? I'm going to install good units with zerks, not factory ones. I pay to have it done right.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Is it not possible to drill and tap the cover over the ball joints and install zerks? I have done this in the past on other sealed units. Just be very careful drilling. Pretend its a pre turbo probe. Then don't tap very deep and only install the zerk for the first few threads. It may be necessary to grind the end of the tap down flat to stop it hitting the stuff inside..

bulabula, forget the dealer. This is one job that you will have to do yourself.

Could we add grease through a small hole in the rubber boot without it eventually getting water and dirt in there too?

Don't know much about ball joints yet but I found these replacements that look like they have zerk fittings as well:

Good find on those 03/04 joints! Those are most likely uppers and would also be a good one for those with the right hand pull that many complain about.
Selecting one of those would require alignment specs to be taken first.
Now we just need some better lowers...mine are toast at 22,500 and may have been bad all along. It was just at that mileage I decided to check based on what everyone else has been seeing.

Stempf has an adjustable ball joint part # 44-2497 gives +/- 1 3/4 degrees adjustment. I emailed Stempf about this. I original got a couple other part numbers but finally emailed specifically about the 9.25 AAM axle and this is the part number they gave. About $80.00. Anybody tried one? I don't know if they are greasable.
I'm ready if it will fix the pull to the right. Both of my front tires are feathered on the inside. I think this is because once you turn the steering wheel to keep it going straight down the road, you have wrecked the normal toe setting because toe will change as you turn with the outside wheel having less toe due to turning in a larger circle. I have had the truck on a alignment machine and it showed the camber of both front wheels leaning to the right (passenger side) of the truck. Given the gyroscopic affect of the wheel seems like it would make sense for it to pull right.
Haven't checked ball joints only have 15,000 miles but sounds like I better check them. Whoda thunk it.
