Ah, one of those drivers that drive by feel.

I do agree about the foil bumpers. It seems that if someone sneezed on mine that it would bend. These are the softest bumpers I have ever seen on any vehicle. Wasn't there a thread or some talk about soft bumpers on the '03's almost a year ago?

Autopark 2000

I used this on my '99 Durango, and now have one (yet to be installed) for my '03. Works very well, and they're cheap. Beeps once when you put it into reverse, then the closer you get to something, the faster it beeps. Fits on the license plate frame.
Called the "SmartPark" or AMT "Autopark 2000".

I got my first one at Costco for $59 a couple years ago. JC Whitney has them for $62.99.

Found them recently on Overstock.com for $24.

Not perfect, but better than the braille method... Hope this helps.

On the other hand, I am looking to install a backup sensor because I banged a guy who pulled up so close he was in my blind spot. I saw nothing out of any of the three mirrors before I started back and after obviously hitting something I had to pull forward to see his car.

My back bumper crumpled his hood and the hitch receiver punched a square hole in his grill. I only found a few markings on the bumper which I rubbed off with my finger.

All in all though, it was still a humbling experience. Especailly since my better half was along and the guy got out shouting, "You are driving a monster, you are driving a monster."

Jarmar: I used an Autopark 2000... It mounts to the license plate.

These license plate mounted ones aren't poorly made?
