I am interested in a backup sensor since I busted a guys little cracker box a couple of weeks ago. He had pulled up so close behind me that I could not see him in any mirror. I had to pull ahead to see what I had bumped.

I got out to see what damage I had done to my new truck and he started yelling at me about driving a monster. Didn't hurt the truck.

Any one using one? If so would you recommend your brand?

Actually, I wasn't parking. I had started to pull into a toll both on the Chicago Skyway. The sign identifying the toll lane was a flashing sign which showed only part of the message at a time and the last frame said "Exact Change". So I looked out all three mirrors and saw no one in sight. Bam!!

Ford has this as an available option. The 4x4 is so high a small car can easily hide in a blind spot.

THis is something that I've investigated, and keep meaning to buy, but just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. The brand I like is Poron USA. The model you want to look at is the mini3LV. I could use one on the front too with the new bumper.

Have been using one for about a year. It uses two sensors on the back bumper. One of the best investments I made for the truck as there are a lot of small vehicles in my area. Motorcycles too, that I can never see. Without looking I can back up to within about 6 inches of whatever is hidden behind me. The sensor shows down to 2 feet and after that it is just experience.
Can't remember what I paid for it. Seem to remember that I bought it from Genos.
I dismantled the readout and glued a sort of an anchornut inside, then mounted the unit on the rear of my overhead consul with a single screw. All wires are 100% hidden.

In Geno's present catalogue they advertise 'Parking Partner' for $149. Does this sound like what you are using?

Their blurb states that when the unit reads '0' you are 8 to 12 inches from the objedt.

Forgot to mention that with the two sensors it shows on my readout if the closest object is on the left or right.

so my 6" drop bar doesn't count? hmm... i do have some bright off road lights that are going to become my backup lights soon... they will warn off other drivers who are so close... how about a rearview camera system? they are getting down in price now eh... i would like to get one of them someday

I have used one for about the last 1-1 1/2 years. It works as advertised.

I have one with 8 sensors 4 for the front and 4 for the back - I have yet to install it though (instructions were not to clear) - it’s called elewave. Some factory cars like Audi come stock with 4 in front and 4 in back.

I have problems with seeing what is in front of me when parking so I though this would cover both sides (front and back)

*Note* - it took VERY long to ship/arrive - close to two months and poor communication.

I don't know anyone who has installed one so I can't attest to how it works but it does look nice. Warrantee might be an issue though as its shipped from Thailand (company is also located in thailand)

so just an fyi to let you know there is more than 2 or 4 sensors...

I usually just back up until I feel a bump and then pull forward a little bit.

With that said, I've noticed that this aluminum foil bumpers dent very easily. I'm thinking of fabricating a concrete bumper to go with my bedliner.
