Has anyone had this issue with 2003 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty: I installed a backup alarm and now when you open a door and it triggers the dome light, the backup alrm will sound a slight chirp. There shouldn't be any voltage at all going to the backup lights(where I tapped in)when the dome comes on. If I can't find out where it is getting this voltage(it's not enough to show up in the backup lights but it's enough to chirp the backup alarm) then I will have to do away with the backup alarm that I really need. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I solved the problem. When the dome light comes on, I see 1.5 to 2 volts going to the backup lights which is not enough to light the lights or anything else except that @#$%^ backup alarm that can produce the small chirp with only 1.5 volts hitting it. I just put the tapped wire from the backup light to a relay instead of the backup alarm and then ran the backup alarm through the relay and a positive battery source from the hitch plug. Now it cannot chirp because it takes at least 8 volts to pull in a 12 volt relay. Also now my backing alarm is not powered from the backup lights. Now I can even put some of those aux. backing lights on my truck and run them off the same relay contacts. AHA at last!
