AUX Stereo Input

I have a new mp3 player (Apple iPod) that I would like to use in my truck. I orderd the FM broadcaster, but there is too much hiss and interference, so now I am considering a "line in" solution.

Is there a way to get a "line in" setup on the factory radio (I don't have the navigation system) so I can play my mp3 through the factory stereo?

Thanks

Funny you should ask. I just received my part yesterday from the UPS man. I wanted to hook up my Sirius Satellite radio up using a direct connect. P.I.E. makes an adapter that hooks into your 10 pin CD changer control on your factory head unit. It gives you 2 RCA audio inputs. You need the factory radio that has the CD controller. My radio is the single CD unit (code RAZ). The part is not cheap, but I think it will be worth it. This was the only adapter I could find. Here is the link. Good luck, Mike

I just noticed you have "6-disc" listed in your signature. If it is the in-dash unit, this adapter won't work. Maybe you can find something on their website that will. Mike

I was just wondering about this and sent an email to PIE to see if they have something for my head unit. Thanks

What about the '04 Laramie with the 6 disc in dash CD changer? Does it have an external changer din connection?

Don't know. I assume no, but thats an assumption. I just stated a fact about the standard equipment in the SLT model.

Dan, I just checked with Logjam Electronics. They said they believe my radio is the "RBK" series unit and as such has no cd changer input, so there is no converter unit for this radio.

If your truck is an '03 SLT, I believe you have CD changer "controls" for an external CD changer (mounted remotely). I have the 6 disc "in dash" unit - i.e. I load 6 CDs into the slot on the front of my unit and select the disks to play by using keys 1- 6 which shuffles the discks in the head unit itself.

If I am wrong about your unit and you have the same unit as me with the CD DIN input in the back please let me know. Also, if you have this unit, could you post a picture of the front of it? Thanks

DF,

THe radio you pictured is the same one I have in my truck. I think the best thing for me to do is have the dealer advise me as to the order code for the radio in my truck (by checking the #VIN)and then check back with Soundgate to see if their converters will work with that radio order code.

Thanks for your help.

Your owner's manual should have detailed info on your radio including the code and functions. Mine is the "RAZ." You will need the CD controller for the interface cable. I just installed mine yesterday. I get much better sound through the direct connect...I hope it works for you. Mike

the radio in the picture is the RBQ if you have the MODE selection you have an input for a external cd changer and can use one of the adapters.
