Anyone add fog or driving lights to 3rd gen ram?
I have a 2004.5 ram diesel. it has the black vents in the holes in front bumper because it didnt come with factory driving lights. my ? is that when i look under my bumper i dont even see how you canmount lights in those holes? do u need the black plastic with the hole or can we rig up other driving lights somehow? any feedback or pics or names of other lights would be appreciated. thanks

That plastic trim piece pops out and is replaced by another when you add factory fog lights.
Check under your drivers side fender, near the front, you should have a harness thats not plugged into anything. If you have it, your truck is prewired for the fogglights(I believe its SLT trucks, maybe STs dont have it?)
Heres the kit you need.

I installed mine over a year ago right when I bought my truck and it didnt come with fog lights...
The kit comes with the plastic trim piece, fog lights, harness and factory headlight switch that the **** will pull out for the fog lights.

I've got an 04.5 and it was not prewired. If you get the kit from Dodge with the separate toggle switch here's a tip. The instructions will tell you to locate the low beam power wire on the driver's side headlight. Instead of that, take the parking light out of the headlight bucket and remove the bulb. Turn the parking lights on and test the wires to find which one of the three has power. Tap into that wire with the trigger wire and your driving lights will work with the parking lights on, on low beam and on high beam.

From what I saw when I mounted my fogs, Go with the mopar kit.
It bolts on very easily.
To do the same with some aftermarket lights would be a major PITA to fab up some mounts.
I believe the Mopar lights are made by Hella and work great.

Factory fog light kit is the way to go. Did it to both of my trucks (03 SLT, and 06 ST) and takes 20 minutes at the most, I can get them in now in about 5 minutes.
Use the factory headlight switch with fogs, its way clean and super easy- you wont need to install the relays and rocker switch that come with the kit.

someone added the factory fogs to my truck before I bought it and the idiots didn't use the factory harness thats there. Very visable especially if they went to the trouble to add them. I guess they were sold the add-on harness.

Don't know about the other years but the 04.5 did not have the pre wired harness in it. On my 04.5 I had to run the harness to get the lights to work and as above use the running lights or parking lights to trigger the relay and fogs will work with any combination of lights. The kit with can be made to work as the factory installed lights do with a new light switch but for me the small switch was much easier and by following the directions took only 1 hour to install. Very easy with the factory kit and under $150 for it and other than the picture direction quite easy to do. (Directions are only pictures, no written directions).

I had read on Mopar2U.com and a couple of Ebay site that you have to take the truck to the dealer to have the ECM flashed so the foglights would work. Can anybody confirm or deny this?
